Instead of 0.10 dollars, we will be paying +100 dollars of original price for every iphone.

I doubt it. Our $$$ would be worth much more, and with a Hugh manufacturing wage, we'd all be paid more anyway. We'd also eliminate these horrible third world working conditions, which only began to exist in the late 70s when we started outsourcing. We didn't americanize these 3rd world countries, we just shifted their economies from simple agriculture to factories.

They had jobs before we outsourced.

The problem is that virtually every raw good that goes into making an electronic device from the ground up does not occur naturally in the US. Which means that everything would need to be imported which adds sometimes exorbitant costs to goods. That company wouldn't be able to competitively price things since their costs production would be significantly higher. It's not just that labor costs much less in China and other countries, but that the raw goods are readily available. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that labor costs and lower environmental regulations are a huge selling point to businesses too. There's a much lower environmental impact by setting up factories in the countries where the raw goods exist--like the rare earth elements that go into electronics, which are mainly mined in China (though worldwide production is ramping up). It's a sad truth that it makes more sense to set up shop there as opposed to paying lots of money to transport everything else thousands of miles to a different country.

Those who want the phones made in USA, you do realize that the price tag would probably double.

So? If manufacturing jobs were here, pay would be higher for all.... It's not a hard thing to grasp that if workers in China and elsewhere will work for considerably less than us that will loop back on us in the forms of LOWER wages. Consider the story of Wages in America for the last 40 years. It's a story of STAGNANT wages for 40 years.

I've alsways found it outrageous and injust that U.S. CEOs are so over-paid and that many have no scrupples what so ever... mad.gif

...and so would jobs. Then that money would circulate over and over in the U.S. creating MORE jobs and before you know it the U.S. would have a stable economy with a decent standard of living and working for the majority of people and a lot lower need for social assistance paid for by tax payers to those who can't get jobs or who have a sub-standard of living as a result of CEOs exporting jobs so that the unscrupulous CEOs get multi-billion dollar annual bonuses from using Chinese slave labor.

They are stupid, 50 years ago that stat woul dhave been EMBARRASSING, but we have been beat over the head with neoclassical economic theory in this country, that these people making that money are great, unique individuals, who have a singular skill that allows them to, blah blah blah blah.

They are pushing the system to a cliff, how will Americans react when social safety nets are disabled, while those at the very top make more in 30 minutes than they make in an entire year. It will not be pretty.

Most new jobs in America are retail jobs.. think of that... that is horrible for this country. This is why you are seeing more and more people question this system, it's even on this board, 5 years ago, many of us would be laughed at, but now some of us actually can discuss alternative economic theories without being seen as crazy, because WE ALL KNOW SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY BORKED here. We just don't understand economics enough to pinpoint it, which is intentional. I would stress any Mathematically minded people here to take a look at the equations used to explain this economic system, you will realize quickly what a total farce it is, dressed up in pseudo-mathematics that most of us are too uneducated to see.

Imagine a mathematical system to explain human behavior, and all our infinite quirks GOOD LUCK, yet this is what we have in economics. Economics is a simply thing really(simple, one must simply put in the efforts), it does not require grand mathematically flawed systems to explain it.

Good point, I find it interesting when people bring up that only 52% of us pay taxes.... You mean to tell me that 48% of us are too POOR to pay them? Durr...
