micro atx is just fine for video cards and cable management, the bottom just cuts off sooner smile.gif that board can still run SLI/Crossfire, and it's a very premium board. the onboard audio is on par or better (opinion really, but most say better) with it's competitors, but if you really are looking for quality sound you should pick up a sound card.

this will come down to the case you buy, if you get a nice size case that has great cable managment features then it wont be a problem or a case with more room inside is my guess

You've all been a huge help. I'll probably give the Maximus IV Gene-Z a go, with the 2500K.

Maybe I'll have a new thread in the build log section in the near future. smile.gif

Thanks

Edit - Regarding the case, I've chosen the pricey, but worth it Corsair Obsidian 650D.

I love that case. I built a system with it for a customer and loved it so much I ditched my old NZXT Phantom. This case is the best, and I definitely recommend you do a build log! thumb.gif

I think the motherboard/cpu combo is great, but I think you might look elsewhere for your case. The 650D is certainly flashy but if you aren't going water cooling there are other cases that can perform much better on air.

Look at silverstone's raven/temjin/fortress cases, or coolermaster's HAF series from the 912 up to the X. If you're looking for performance they will best the 650D. If you're just going for looks, than I suppose that it's up to you. smile.gif Happy shopping.

I do go for watercooling, almost strictly now since I tried my first set up, and I don't think I'll ever go back to air. smile.gif

I said I didn't want to bust my budget, but I ended up doing so by about $400 anyway.

Now I just have to convince the wife. biggrin.gif

Nope. Unlike MSI AM3 MB, ASRock puts quality VRM into the board. I have seen people OC'd SB into 4.5 GHz, even as high as 5.0 GHz on Z68 Pro3 series (if their SB are a golden chip). I do recommend going extra on Extreme3 Gen3 if possible.

Quality > Quantity.
