What kills it for me is the lack of content. Crafting is a poorly designed joke. If you arn't into raiding there is nothing to do. No reps to farm, no achievements. No sights to see (sarlac is a pathetic joke of a pit). No secret or forgotten area's. No old quests to clear up. The zones are small and isolated from eachother. There's a strait path from 1 to 50 in which you do every quest there is in the game, and it doesn't take very long to get there.
I dunno, but in wow I was still clearing up old quests years later. And when they added achievements there were always things to do.
Oh and in wow I could ride across a whole continent without zoning once. Then take a boat (or sneak onto a zepplin), zone once, and ride down a whole other continent. Either of which is bigger then all the completely separate planet zones in swtor put together I think. And the loading screens! bah. Fleet, loading screen, ship, loading screen, airlock, loading screen, shuttle bay, loading screen, belsavis. <-- that's the bother you have to go through to get anywhere.
And the UI... or lack of one. Gotta hand it to bioware to take their ui and toss out all the advances of the past 10 years and give us the most basic, poorly thought out UI ever. With absolutely no player customization. And the lack of mods is horrible as well. At least if we were able to use mods we could correct their terrible UI. And no damage logs. Want to know what instagibbed you during that boss fight? Well too bad because there's no damage log so you can't tell if you got tailswiped or sat in the green fire too long, or hit by a flame wall or what.
And the CS is beyond terrible. Might take a week for a ticket to get answered. Oh, and it's a crapshoot if your ticket is actually answered (a lot are simply locked for no reason), and if it is answered it will be answered by form letter which they try to cutesy up by making out like they have droids doing CS.
This is the first mmo I've canceled within the first 6 months. I wanted to like it, but it's baad.

I have to say you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I got an email from Bioware requesting feedback earlier this week and here is what i sent them:
Quote:
Good afternoon,

It is great that you are contacting your users to request feedback.

I’ve personally been very disappointed in SWTOR. The pre-50 content was very entertaining and I enjoyed it very much.

However at 50 the game abruptly changed and became very lacking.

All of my friends canceled their subscriptions and I’ve canceled 2 of my 3 subscriptions and the 3rd one I will be canceling before I am rebilled. Once you hit level 50 you are forced into a very repetitive grind in either pvp or pve… as I am not much into ‘raiding’ I would typically choose the pvp grind… the problem is the queues and population balances ruin this for me… the hours at which I am able to play I will queue for a warzone and end up in a 5 vs 10 match which ends in absolutely no chance at a win. So I waste any time I put in because there is 0 reward for me being in a fail wz. So I figured “that’s ok, I’ll head to llum” well in llum if you are not part of the zerg the second you engage anyone you have a zerg on you because you alert the whole map to your location.

Those days that I have been discouraged by the above I went ahead and alas I’ll just work some trade skills. – well I can’t even do that.. despite having 400 in both supporting gathering skills and never having sold a single material… I don’t have enough mats to get to my craft skill raised. You give about 1/10th of what is needed to raise a skill from investing the tons of credits it cost me to get to 400/400. That’s ok I’ll just buy them from the Galactic trade network… oh wait.. no I wont because since the population is so unevenly balanced there is nothing available on the republic trade market. Meanwhile I can log onto my Empire character and purchase any mats I need (because there are 48 pages of mats on bioanalysis alone on the empire side) and go send those mats through nar shadda trade network and buy them with my republic character… but this means 30 minutes of running around for mats that are gone after 10 minutes of crafting.

At the end of the day, you have made a great MMO that is only worth playing for that first month. That’s ok because I’ve bought worse games that I didn’t even get a month of play out of… however when it comes to expecting a subscription – this is bar none the worst paid service one can select.

I’ve paid for 8 monthly subscriptions at a time in games like daoc, uo, 4 accounts at once in wow… I have no problem at all forking out loads of cash to enjoy a game that Is fun… it is pretty sad how disappointing this game is and it is on a steady decline down. At this point even if you administer CPR and breathe life into this dying game , you have lost so many subscriptions that you will just be another warhammer.

Once again thank you for the feedback request… Sorry it turned into a rant but that’s how annoyed I’ve become at this game and the time I wasted in playing it.

So, you treat an MMO as a single player game and are disappointed? thinking.gif

As for the second part, I completely disagree with this. Crafting is more in depth than WoW, not nearly as in depth as something like SWG. They have plans to improve it, especially by making moddable gear as powerful as purple gear. PVP is significantly different than WoW and is a big alternative to raiding. No reps? Try companion affection, and companions actually talk to you. Achievements? Nothing like WoW's system but they're in there for killing bosses. If you treat the game like a single player game you don't see these. The landscapes are beautiful. Datacron hunting is pretty in depth and a lot of them are hard to find and take a bit to get to (and I'm not talking about looking up the guide to do it online). The zones are not small. Several planets are as big as several WoW zones combined. As for completing every quest in the game, almost every planet has a bonus series quest line that is completely optional that takes you to several regions in a planet you never see otherwise.A lot of times you end up overleveled if you do the bonus quests. I skipped most of them because I ended up 3-4 levels above the planet I was on because there's so many quests to do. Oh, and story. Seriously, the Jedi Knight storyline is one of the most epic stories in all of Star Wars, IMO.

I can accept that the game is not to everyone's liking but I take issue with a lot of the points you raised.

However, with a game like this, you'd think they would have optimized it.

Each 8 stories are unique and dynamic. Of course in between you kill or save.
But those parts in the quest line are just normal.
Like I said, you wouldn't say this if you played. I dont think you played all 8 story lines or the game.
And I'd like to give a middle finger to you. Congratulations on finding a fulfilling leveling experience to you. A player should not have to repeat a form of gameplay they do not have fun in simply because the developer spent more time on it than the gameplay experience they do enjoy.

SWG was awesome at release... thinking back i'm pretty sure it was one of the funnest mmo starts for me. And i'm pretty sure i played every mmo worth playing. It did quickly get bad imo but those first 3 months were just cheese, I'm pretty sure anyone who played sunrunner server at the start will easily remember my 5 man team~

spacebar, 1, spacebar 1, spacebar 1, (select dark or light), spacebar, 1, spacebar 1. The questlines were awesome... nothing annoys me more than being a group with someone who watches the cinematic.
