hi kgtuning & crazygood33

thanks for the heads up - only picked it from ttl video reference (tiny tom logan). - will look out for primochill tubing - whats the turn radius like with it so you know.

re the monsoons - yea seen them look fab - wonder if i get the monsoon ones which other manufactures 90 deg and 45 deg bend compression fittings would look the best with them.

thanks in advance.

Toolman.
monsoon actually just started producing their own angled fittings. Not to mention that performance-pcs has started a line of custom carbon fiber monsoon fittings. smile.gif just an fyi!

edit: just saw you're in Ireland. frown.gif not sure if ppcs will offer them to other shops or not.

Just realized they don't have any promotional pics on their site or the modmytoys site for those modded monsoons. But I found one on their FB page! biggrin.gif

Hi lt-cartman!

Nice list of parts you got. I hear alot of good things about Durelene tubing for water cooling. I just finished building my first water cooling rig last week and I'm currently using Durelene tubing. I hope it holds up to the praise its been receiving and doesn't chalk up or cloud up after a month.

I want to say that you should draw out your loop and plan it very carefully. Once you have planned how your loop should flow, check other people's builds that match your layout and determine what you may need in terms of compression fittings. As a first time builder myself, I found myself needing a couple extra 90 degree and 45 degree fittings. So it set my build back 3 days waiting for the parts to arrive. It's hard to imagine how the tubing will bend or go without the actually parts in your hands. But try your best!

As for mounting a cylindrical reservoir, I used the wiring gromets right between the MB and the hard drive bays and mounted the reservoir like I would have an aftermarket CPU cooler with a mounting bracket.

Which reminds me, I need to post a few pictures up of my build I finished last week. It's gonna look like every other EKWB build out there. xD

I will agree with that, you can look at pictures all day, but not until you play with things yourself you will not see how a certain tube bends and how it will actually look. Make sure you order some extras, specially for tubing as you might undercut sometimes.

Hi redxmaverick

Can't wait to see your build. Especially the res and how and where it's installed

Re drawings I'm mocking up my rig in photoshop at the moment - gotta love a 200 layer photoshop file lol.

Also IV been researching photos from a lot of different sites / forums

Hi Jassilamba
Yea I am ordering 3 meters of the tubing to be safe

Looking at combination of bits power extenders (for rad clearance) and the monsoon compression fittings. But as you said unfortunately I might have to wait till I receive all the gear in order to visually and touch Koch setup the system. Bit of a pain as I would have to wait for about 2 to 3 weeks for delivery of the fittings from America. Just can't seem to find a uk supplier that has the monsoon angle fittings.

Thanks again for all your comments and help.

Toolman here,
Just finishing my initial research for my new Socket 2011 build and need some help with a few specific water cooling questions. My system list is below.
Case
NZXT Switch 810 Matt Black special edition (extra cutouts in top 5.25" bay for 360 rad push pull air flow)
The 4 140mm fans that come in the case I want to use to push pull air over the 2 hdd caddy bays. (so ill be putting a further 6 120mm fans up top in push pull on a 360 Rad.
MB
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Cpu
3930K want to o/c to about 4.5
Thermal paste Artic cooling MX4
PSU
Corsair AX 860i (fully modular)
Memory
G.Skill 32GB (8 x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz DIMM CL9
DVD-RW drives
Samsung SH-S222BB/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
& if space provides
Asus 24x DVD±RW DRW-24B5ST SATA ReWriter - Black
if i can i'd love to keep the 2 drives
hd's
Primary boot drive (win 7 64bit O/S)
SSD OCZ vertex 4 256 gb ssd
SSD No. 2 -fast primary storage (PhotoShop - premiere project files / swap disk etc)
OCZ vertex 4 256 gb ssd - yes another one smile.gif
Fast Large hdd
1 Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
I will also be adding 3 @ 1.5 tb drives from an old system Sata II drives only.
GFX Card (see note below)
Either OcUK Tech Lab H2O Custom GTX 670 2GB (Artic cooling MX4 paste)- with the XSPC razor water block (pre installed)
OR
If i only water cool the CPU then the Zotec 670 Amp gfx card.
Water cooling....(now the fun begins)
For Simplistic ordering (i would like to use the following kit).
XSPC RayStorm D5 EX360
(In push pull fans 6 @ NZXT FX-140LB Fans to match case fans).
Only problem is that the dual bay res would loose me 2 of my 5.25 bays and leave me having to remove the hot swap lower 5.25 bay and install a single dvd-rw there (and not the 2 dvd-rw's i want to try to keep.)
Here is the kit ill get if I'm ordering separates I'm getting it from specialtec.co.uk (i'm in Ireland so ordering from the US gets mad expensive Postage and import tax) frown.gif
CPU Block
XSPC Raystorm CPU block.
RAD.
The Black IDE SR1 360 55.7mm thick (I Presume I can use push pull with this rad and still clear the heat syncs on the rampage 4 extreme MB.
FANS
Thinking of these - any observations / recommendations.
6 @ NZXT FX-140LB Fans to match case fans.
Tubing
Tygon R3603 7/16" ID - 5/8" OD (11-16mm) Tubing : Clear (2 - 3 meters)
Coolant
Mayhems Pastel Fluid for Water Cooling 1 Litre : Ice White (2 bottles) - 2 of these.
Q1 In order to keep the 2 5.25" bays...
Im wondering about the best option for say a d5/pump head combo (on floor - or side of case) and a cylinder res (and how to attach it just behind the 5.25" bays).
Q2. I'm looking for a set of compression fittings to fit the system. Need some advice on a uk or European website company that would have various standard compression & 45 deg & 90 deg and extensions also.
Q3. If I choose to water cool the CPU & GFX also does anyone know the rough CPU temp increase's from CPU cooling alone.
Q4. Can the pre installed water cooled reference 670 in the link below be clocked to near the zotex amp's specks (second link).
Reference 670 (with preinstalled water block - (Artic cooling MX4 paste)

Thanks in advance to you all for taking the time to read the post cant wait to start this bad boy in Jan 2013.
Toolman.

Raid 0 the ssd's, other than that it looks good... Might want to buy your own 670 and put whatever block you want on it.

Number of NZXT cases with a 480 very very few.
I don't think that presently anyone has a reversed ATX 810, with a 480 monsta rad installed, and that's what I like about my build. Its stupid crazy.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Will take some pics with the SLR once the build is all done.....

It looks stupidly crazy, I love it!

Hey guys,

Going to get either a 670 or a 7950 and consensus seems to be 7950 with watercooling.

I have an i5 2500k and don't have plans to overclock (maybe when components are a little older), have one 23" 1080p monitor.

Should I get the Raystorm EX360 kit now and learn how to watercool, then get the 7950 in a couple of months (have a GTX 560 right now)? (Vice versa also an option)

OR

Get a GTX 570 and stay with aircooling?

Also note that I'm paranoid about ruining things (i.e. ripping off the 7950 cooler and voiding warranty)
