Hi Friend,

Switch 810 owner here (though first time posting in this thread). I use the HDD "hot-swap" tray in the 5.25 area. I have the same setup as what you are planning (240mm radiator mounted vertically)...you may want to check out my photo gallery here for some ideas: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/3cxj2upg4522g/NZXT_Switch_810...check out the pictures towards the end of the gallery. :)

You have two options:

1. mount radiator->attach the fans from the inside end of the radiator (i.e. fans are pulling air from the outside)

2. mount fans->mount radiator (fans are pushing fans towards the radiator and air goes into the case).

I did option 2. However, if you plan to do it this way, you may need to drill some holes (check out the pictures in the early part of my gallery). This is because the hole spacing of the front of the case are meant for 140mm fans (or 140mm radiators).

P.S.: please excuse my way of drilling holes as they are not perfect. They will be hidden anyway when you mount the fans, so it's somehow a "cheap trick" I did (I'm relatively new to modding and don't have the right tools).

External HDD enclosures work great for increasing the space inside of your case for additional water cooling.

You can use the hotswap drive for reg hdd and ssds behind the mono tray or other creative places

That's actually my only issue with the case, aside from the fact that it won't hold 4 Monsta 560's in Push Pull thumbsdownsmileyanim.gifwink.gif

I have a bunch of hard drives I'd like to use (3x WD10EZEX 1TB, 2x WD VelociRaptor 600GB, 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 (1x1TB + 1x3TB), 1x HGST Deskstar 320GB, 2x WD3200AAKS 320GB, and plenty of others). However, I removed the bottom HDD Cage by necessity to fit the UT60 240 with P-P fans, leaving me with the top 3x 3.5" cage, and 3x 5.25" bays (top bay holds my fan controller; with a 420 rad in p-p it doesn't have room for anything deeper).

If the fan controller was all I had, I would have gotten a 4-in-3 drive cage and been perfectly happy with 7x 3.5" drives and a pair of 2.5" SSD's, but the second-from-the-top 5.25 bay holds my XSPC Single Bay Res, the 3rd from the top is taken up by the MCP35X2 dual-pump that is mounted directly to the back of the bay res via Bitspower 90deg rotary adapter and male-male coupler, leaving me with a single 5.25 bay and still having to fit a single optical drive and at least one more HDD.

Originally, my plan was to get one of the Silverstone 1x5.25 to 1xSlim-ODD + 1x3.5"/2x2.5" Drive Bay adapters. However, since I have a bunch of LG/Hitachi Slim DVD-R/W drives, the kind used in the Dell Optiplex SFF cases, I couldn't justify the cost of a slim, slot-loading Blu-Ray Burner (all of which were between $120 and $180 at the time of the build), I went a different route.
I picked up one of the Bytecc Single 5.25 Bay Adapters which allows for fitting a variety of different Optical and/or Hard Drives; it can hold 1 or 2 Slim ODD's, which don't have to be slot loading, and if you use just 1 then it will hold (in addition) either 1 3.5" or 2 2.5" HDD's/SSD's. Got it at Micro Center for like $8 and while it's not the world's most impeccably constructed piece of equipment, it's more than suitable for my needs.

All said and done, with just one of the HDD cages and a single 5.25 bay available, I have fit:
4x 3.5" HDD's
1x DVD-R/W
2x 2.5" SSD's
...and I didn't have to resort to the "Velcro method" of attaching any of them.

Okay so no offense but i see no reason to have all those hardrives if it were me i would either use a external hadddrive rack or make a file server with the drives theres no way you need all those files all the time. I could be wrong just saying also have you considered taking out the dvd drive and making iit external tbh i didnt even know people still used those. Another option is to get a slimmer rad and attach it to the harddrive cages in just pull well push pull but the push would have to go through the drive cages. But saying this is the onlu thing you dont like about this case means you love it because the number of cases that can hold hat many drives and rads without creative means i can count on 1 hand lol also have you considered devising a way to mount them behind the drive bays. I would suggest mounting the hdds externally and tbh no offense again but i think your expecting a little much from a 200 dollar case or any case for that matter your trying to put more drives in there than my server has lol.

Also if you got some spare cash the best idea i couldthink of would be to just get 3 3 tb harddrives wd makes some i think green drives there not fast but they dont need to be if you have ssds you obvouisly have alot of ssd space so anything that would benefiet from the fast drives is on them and 3 x 3tb drives would replace all those and more also your board doesnt even have enough sata ports to use all those drives i think your being a tad riduclus no offense

Okay nkelson. I juat looked up to make sure and it was as i figured. You have 2 ssds 1 dvd drive that leaves you 5 sata ports you have 4 drives in the case and if you took out the dv you could put a triple hdd cage and have 8 drives total 2 sdds and 6 mech which is as many as your ports will even allow thats what i would do as i doubt you use the dvd drive often as get an external that would also free up a sata port so then you will have as many drive as possible. Also im a little confused you saidthat if you only had fan controler you could have 4 drives in the bays but with 2 ssds that would be 9 drives you cant run 9 drives.

The only reason I'd want to have all the drives in a single case would be to simplify things, that said, the above poster was correct in assuming that I DO LOVE THIS CASE, and it's a minor quibble.

I DID end up building a separate file server, so it's really not a big issue at all. As to why I want 4x HDD + 2x SSD + 1x ODD, well, I like keeping different things completely separate, via separate drives. It makes things much quicker and more organized.

(Also, I have 2x SSD plugged into the two Intel SATA6G ports, 4x HDD's in the 4x Intel SATA3G ports, and DVD in 1 of 2 3rd party ports; plenty, although if I had room for 8 drives or more I'd be running a real RAID card).

So after seeing the real glass side panel mods i figured id give it a go. For 8 bux i now have an amazing side window that was beyond my expectations seriously. The clearness of the glass is not even able to be picked up by a camera it is awesome. I went to a glass shop and had them cut me a 19x19in square piece of glass. Just used a pair of cutter pliers to clip of the tabs as flush as possible and used a file to file down the sharp edges as close to flush as possible very carefully trying not to damage side panel paint. I used a sharpie and colored the 2mm of exposed metal on the tab so it was black. I used the 3M mounting tape to mount the glass. It is on there so good i dont even know how i would get it off if i wanted to take it off. Anyways came out awesome for a few bux. My cell phone pics cant even do it justice. The glass gets rid of the effect of how you see each individual LED on the standard plexi window that comes with the case gives a way better light flow. Here is a video real basic but you get the idea.
