You can do 4 fans in push/pull like I did. The front fan wouldn't get much air flow due to the drive bay which has a solid top.

Push pull? No chance.

Push - Pull 420 up top is no big problem with a bit of modding . . .

Here's mine from back in the old days when the 810 was the big kid on the block, and before the trifire Asus Matrix 7970s went in . .

HWL GTX-420 in P-P, which back then had fans spaced 20mm apart instead of the now standard 15mm, so the core is 10mm longer necessitating the fittings at the front to clear the I/O sheet metal.

first off, just wanted to say hi and this thread made me make an account.

2nd, awesome looking build.

i'm just starting a NZXT Switch 810 build and was wondering where/how some of u guys got a modded front panel like that. so far i have for my build: 16GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 RAM, (4) Noctua fans, the case, and a Dell U3415W Ultrawide monitor. i'm currently waiting for the release of EVGA's better Nvidia 1080's and then the build will be taking off. going with an Asus Z170 Deluxe MoBo and an Intel 6700k.

thanks in advance!

The modded front panels, and top panels were pretty basic DIY mods that paid off well in better airflow.

I was a pretty early adopter when the 810 came out years ago . .

Couple pics of the DIY mod using epoxy to adhere the mesh to the newly cut out panel, and a top panel with the louvers removed and replaced with mesh.

i believe i was literally the FIRST black NZXT switch 810 owner back in 2012

yet this is my first post lol.. after having them send me the new 15mm top its in.

now my question is fan placement

the top will intake cpu cooler h240-x and the gpu will be acx version of the 1080

should i have my psu fan facing up so it sucks out the heat and do i need to change any of my fan placement?

Hopefully others will chime in as well, but I will post a pic of my 810 below. Setup - INTAKE: 2x140 in the front (came with case), bottom 240 w/ 4 x Gently Typhoons (PP); EXHAUST : top mounted 420 w/ 6x140 Fractal Design, rear 1x140 (came with case).

As for the power supply, I would leave it facing down so that the fan is sucking in ambient air rather than hot air from inside the fan.

Under load, with ambient temp at around 22-24C my GPU doesn't go above 47c and my CPU doesn't go above 60c; both are pretty heavily OCed.

If you would think about it, there's no practical reason in placing your PSU fan facing up and trying to use it as a sort of an exhaust fan.

The main reason is the fact that most (if not all) of the PSUs this days made the way that they're fan will spin only when the PSU reaches a certain load percentage level, or when they're reach quite high temperature level. In other words, the're made to be silent and their fan wouldn't spin most of the time your system is running so there's no practical advantage of using the PSU's fan as an exhaust fan.

I kept mine facing with the fan downside, so when (if at all) it needs to kick the fan into action to cool itself, it will intake the ambient fresh air from outside the case.

If you still concerned about the hot air especially around the GPU area, you can try to fit a 120mm fan on the back side of the case, right beneath the GPU so it will act as an exhaust fan.

Where is a good mounting spot for a regular HDD if I remove the factory HDD bays? I am wanting to put a 240 rad in that spot.
