My MSI Z68 GD-80 has the 8 pin in the top left corner.

Looks like frozencpu.com is out of the d5 pump/res combo.. anyone have knowledge on that?
Purchasing:
RX360/Raystorm extreme kit
RX240
a few extra compression fittings
Primochill primoflex in UV Green
some Arctic Silver thermal paste
and 3 Noctua NF-F12's for the top
anyone have any beef with these selections? heading to dinner then Ill purchase when I get home.. pretty confident in the choices but always open to thoughts..
After that all I need to get on are the 4(or 7) fans for the rads, and a fan controller (thoughts? thinking NZXT Sentry Mix but I would love a temp readout..)

You'll probably have to shop at a few different places. For my current build I went through 5 different vendors for the watercooling stuff, then there was the hardware and sleeve. Question, why are you buying the Raystorm kit and looking at the D5 pump/res combo? It may be cheaper for you to piece together your kit than going that route.

I would highly suggest purchasing some PK1 Nano thermal paste. It's all I've used on my blocks since I started watercooling and I ALWAYS get great temps.

Currently here is the order (all through frozencpu)

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/15140/ex-wat-203/XSPC_Raystorm_RX360_Extreme_Universal_CPU_Water_Cooling_Kit_w_RX360_Radiator_and_Free_Kill_Coil_Hot_item.html

and then in addition

RX240, Primochill 10'ft, fittings for 240, and the thermal paste.

I hear good things about the Raystorm, I suppose I am open to mixing and matching.. anyone had experiences in what ends up being cheaper? (or conversely, more expensive, but I can snag a better part or two, pump/res for instance)

EDIT: for now, I opted to choose my own fans (for the kit) so that knocks off 20 bucks or so.. and I also was planning on going with the Noctua's from frozencpu

This looks like a good idea and a great start to get your feet wet with WC. No pun intended. Trust me, you will never stop making tweeks and changes to this once you start.

One question, you mentioned something about frozen being out of the d5 pump. That kit you are getting comes with a pump. Why would you need another?

For the TIM, I did not really notice a difference between the stuff that comes with the kit and the AC5 paste. I am sure someone here has noticed a difference. It has been my experience that I have not seen much of a difference in temps. Maybe I am crazy or something.

I think a lot of people have the impression that just because you're not busting out the Dremel and tearing into a case, whatever work you do on a rig might not be worthy of the "mod" classification, which IMHO, shouldn't be the case thinking.gif

This would be modifying it from it's original state, so it is actually most def a mod...

Yeah maybe I mis-typed something there.. only 1 pump (from the kit). The Raystorm kit comes with Swiftech MCP655-B pump, should be sufficient for both rads.

Sell- do you have pics up of your drainage work yet? I am trying to eyeball how to go about it.. would be nice to just put it in right off the bat instead of having to stumble through it later with water in the loop. (Ill look up a noob guide on best ways to do it)

Also..
Anyone have a good site for fan comparison?

Don't buy Noctuas, they are way too expensive and ugly. Trust me, I already went that route, lol. NZXT FN-120RB fans are surprisingly impressive performance thumb.gif (and $6 each on Amazon, lmao)
