That might be due to the amount of plastic in those types of products.

Yep. Go on YouTube, there's a few videos on how they work. Basically put them together and then twist and it locks.

Don't get the Phobya ones, I've seen too many horror stories of leaks when they were supposedly locked.

Haven't watched the video, but QDCs are just breaking points in the loop. Once you disconnect, all the water is still in the loop, you would need an extra fitting or just remove the components to drain.

I view QDCs as a way to remove your hardware in isolated chunks, then you can drain outside the case by cutting the tubing or removing the QDC from one end.
