Why re so many people having problems with the mix controller? I have no issues at all...
Can someone upload a video so I can hear this buzzing that I only hear about from others?
Maybe it depends on the fans. I like the fit and finish but the buzz is annoying. It seems like its just one of the fans so I'm going to try and switch the offender with another fn140 that isn't attached to the controller.

I have the same issues as some of you when it comes to a buzzing noise. It isn't coming from the sentry mix for me, but rather either i haven't secured the screws for a fan well enough, or that the fan makes noise only on the lowest speeds, if i bump up the speed near halfway, the buzzing sound from my fan stops. But i checked the fans, during low speeds, the noisy fan makes noise facing upwards or downwards, but if the fan is facing towards the side, there is no noise even at the lowest speeds....maybe its a fan bearing issue that is bugging us....

Has anyone tried stripping, cleaning, re-oiling, and re-assembling these "noisy" fans?

The variation in noise level//existence depending on fan orientation make me (like phantom) think that this is a bearing issue.

Lol...I sanded my side panels like a day before I heard about the gunmetal grey switch. Oh well.. I guess I like my slightly darker grey finish better and replacing most of the rivets with screws will be handy in the future thumb.gif. I will admit kinda ruined a little bit of the uniqueness and fun knowing there are going to be a lot more gunmetal grey switches out there wackosmiley.gif.

Speaking of painting cases, is it absolutely necessary to sand down the area where we will be spraying paint on? What will happen if we just spray on paint as it is out of the box?

Without proper surface prep work, you run the risk of the paint not adhering to the material you're working with.

I had the exact same fan setup connected to the PCB in the back of the case and they made no buzzing sounds. As soon as the mix was installed the buzzing started. It is a little better at full speed, but it's still present and defeats the purpose of having a fan controller. The noise kind of reminds me of a diesel idling.

Ahh I see, so the rougher the surface edge, the less chance for run off (drip lines)?

You don't want to go insane with the roughness, or else it will take a lot more effort to get the end result looking nice. Think a really good scuff.

Drip lines are usually the result of over-spray, not improper prep.
