Did I mention I want my build to have some totally unique and one of a kind features! nerdsmiley.png
Anyway, for those that recall, last weekend I posted a quick video of a prototype, (still on the protoboard) of an animated HDD led that uses an RGB led, that scrolls thru the 7 basic colors in sequence.
Well, I got to like the idea, a lot, so I made some refinements, and made up a circuit board.
I also added a second parallel 12V channel for additional lighting. Then,
I added a pulse stretcher so that even the shortest HDD blink, will cycle the color scroll thru at least once. And lastly,
I added some fade time for when it's set to scroll slowly, although fairly fast seems most eye appealing so far. The color scroll rate is adjustable.
Here's some short videos showing how it looks on the Switch top cover, and how it looks with a small RGB panel in the case. I wish the colors looked as good on the video, as in person, but the quick color scroll seems to freak out the camera a bit, and the color rendition is rather poor with reds being very, very weak.
The last vid was done with the lights on, while the first 2 were done in minimal ambient light.
I'll post some pics of the assembled PCB tomorrow.
DarleneHere's the RGB panel inside the case;

@.@ it's too fast, maybe if it were slower thumb.gif

Slowly fading from one to the other color would be awesome in my opinion, but as it is now....

Reminds me of a carnival...

I can't think of the name of the type of controller you would need to cause it to phase slowly from one mode to the other, perhaps someone more electrically inclined can chime in?

Cant wait to see what ya do with it!

I won't lie I love where you are going with your setup, I lurk once in a while biggrin.gif
after playing around with my rig and realizing my brother is still running on some old two core rig that is having problems playing D3 and I figured I can help him and upgrade myself biggrin.gif

As for the X79 vs Z77, I am leaning towards the z77 because this will mainly be a gaming rig and a high overclocker. I know the Z77 has it's limits but I figure I can also sell my 6950's and pick up a single 7950 or go to the otherside >.> and drop the wattage on my rig alot and perform better then what I have now thumb.gif

Either way I know it will be a slow process because it will be piece by piece.

The secondary display in the case was sort of an afterthought, I may or may not keep it. The display on the top is what I really like a lot.
Darlene

Either way I like how it looks! I wonder how a slow pulse white would look. I always thought white was an underused color on rigs, same with copper... Hmm copper....*looks at how sexy Alphacool gear is*
