Because in the video review of the 810 from overclock3d, gigabyte G1 was used and it's heatsink blocks one of the fan for a push-pull setup

The rampage & my board are the same size just about (Rampage is 1mm wider) The heatsink of the Rampage isn't & the top of the board. The PCB is & Capacitors.... The 4 & 8 pin are your biggest worries...... The clips will run a few mm's over the top of the board

Here's a side view of it.....

About to cool VRM and NB, I am also adding another 240 rad the best way to make my loop right now is pump > VRM > NB > CPU > 360 rad > Res> 240 rad> pump. Wondering if there is a way to make my loop without tubes running all over the place? Most likely this will have to be the way I setup my loop. Still debating cooling the videocard still not sure I want to spend the money, considering im not overclocking the video card. Any tips and insight will be helpful thanks

Yeah I can probably do that think I would go pump > VRM > NB > 240 RAD > CPU > 360 RAD> RES> then back to pump. My only concern is trying to make it look neat and not just tubes all over the place

240 rad will be mounted on the bottom and the 360 is on the top still thinking about buying the video card block that would solve alot of my tube routing problems LOL plus look cool
post #6638 of 13812
Broke down and bought a new Video card block. Gonna mount the pump vertically and go pump > NB > VRM > CPU > 360 Rad > Video card> 240 Rad > Res >Back to pump. Going to mount the pump right where the connectors come out for the 24 pin power, etc. Adding more modding to the list but whatever

Im planning to have my build like this:
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Intel 3930k
Crucial M4/Samsung 830 256GB SSD
Western Digital Green 3TB HDD
G-SKILL DDR3 1600 RipjawsZ 32GB 8GB*4 kit
Corsair AX850 Power Supply
Asus DC2T GTX670
NZXT Switch 810
So I am planning to do a cpu-only loop, and I have no idea what blocks/res/pump/rads/fans/fitting/tube/coolant that I should get
I had built a watercooling computer few years ago and that was a cpu-only loop, I was using ddc pump at that time.
I am on a budget so please suggest components that have great values, thank you very much!
So to begin with,
What block would you suggest for 3930k?
What is the best rad if I want to get a 360 to put it on the top of the 810case? I suppose a 60mm wont fit with push-pull setup, should I just use single sided fans or get a thicker one and single sided or get a thinner one and do a push-pull?
Is D5 still the best bump?
For res, is it better to use those 5.25 bay res(will I still have enough slots for my SSD and HDD if I do use those?) or the one that is a cylinder like and hang it in the middle of the case?
What fans have a good balance between noise and performance since I may leave my PC 24/7 in my bedroom. I was just using cooler master's fans back then.
Also I was using barbs and clamps but this time I would like to try compression fittings for better looking, what type of compression fittings should I get for my setup? And actually barbs vs compression which one is safer? I was told barbs are safer?
Tube shouldnt be a big problem since I will just follow the size of the fittings
What about coolant? Just distilled water? I am not the type of ppl who want fancy looks so UV or led things are not needed.
I am really sorry for so much question and I really, really appreciate for everyone who can help me! Please and thanks!

All right I was going to multi-qoute but this one needs it's own thread! lol (Probably should post this in the WC thread here)

First things first: You say your on a budget but I find you have VERY high end component's minus the 670 (Why not 680? You already have other top notch gear.)
From what I've learned you never want to cheap out on a loop. It will look like crap, you'll want to upgrade it all the time, and it will never be good enough.

So let's break this down.

1. Budget WC block and easy to do? I'd recommend something along these lines. Pre-packaged so you have all you need and easy on the wallet.
EK HFX Advanced: http://tinyurl.com/9v7klh8
EK LTX Advanced: http://tinyurl.com/8cyeszw

Here are your extreme WC pre-assembled loops. Amazing stuff IMO.
XSPC:
This is a 360 rad by 30mm thick: http://tinyurl.com/8hngsqr
This is a 360 rad by 60mm thick: http://tinyurl.com/9dq2gxf
This is a 360 rad by 60mm thick with nice block, res, and the pump is twice as fast. 1500lph vs. 750lph: http://tinyurl.com/8kjpr3b

XSPC Dual Bay pump res combo.
This is cool if you ever want to run two different colors: http://tinyurl.com/9evc8of (I know you said you don't care about ascetics but oh well. tongue.gif)

For fans I always recommend Gentle Typhoon or Akasa Vipers. (My favs.)
Here is the universal rule of thumb. Case fans require high CFM (Cubic feet a minute), while rad fans require high SP (Static Pressure). CFM is how much air the fan pass through one locations. I.E. Your case.
Static pressure on the other hand is how much force the fan pushes the air through a dense object. I.E. Your radiator. Both the GT and A-Vips have very high static pressure and very high CFM. Always a worthy buy. I prefer Vipers because their specs are slightly higher and they only cost 15 bucks.

BayRes is 5.25" slots. 2 of them. SDD and HDD fit in the hard drive case. Completely different concept.

D5 is an awesome pump! I use Alphacool VPP655 pump (D5) and push 1500lph (I think I told someone last night 4500lph... sorry! Too much bourbon. smil3dbd4e4c2e742.gif ) This kit has my pump in the bayres with it. http://tinyurl.com/8kjpr3b
As far as fittings, these kits all come with fittings, TIM, tubes, coolant colors. Everything you need. They take the guess work out for newbies! biggrin.gif

As far as coolant I just run distilled water in my that you can pick up anywhere stateside. If you live in the UK I recommend call my buddy Mick up, aka Mayhem, and ordering his coolant for UK uses only. http://www.overclock.net/u/202822/mayhem

As far as barbs vs. compression all up to you. I say barbs are much safer when used with a Jubilee clip. (Catapiller clip) Just because if it's good enough for my truck's radiator, it's good enough for my pc. But compression fittings look much nicer.

Hope this helps and repost or pm me if you want a custom build piece by piece.

@Everyone.

Alright here is a quick idea for WC'ers Snorkle.gif who use the Switch 810 as their case and not say a really fancy foot stool. doh.gif

Tubing? Tygoon is the best.
Blocks? DT 5Noz Mayhem's or EK Nickle
Res? I totally am in love with FrozenQ's res'.
Pumps? D5 baby! VPP655 pump pushes so much water it's insane!! Also my fans are louder than the pump!
Dye? Mayhem's again. Primochill clogs and stains acrylic whilst mayhem's dye looks much, much better and doesn't stain or clog.
Silver coils? Well hell, just buy silver... *derp derp*
Radiators? Anything that is around 20-30 FPI (Fins per inch)
Fans? Gentle Typhoon or Akasa Vipers. (Really anything with high SP) If you say Delta I will slap your momma! Deltas are retard for 50 bucks. Just buy a blower and profit.
GPU Blocks? Hmm.. That one really depends on the GPU.

Now if you guys are into closed loop cooling I say get an H100 for the CPU and jump on over to DWood to make you a bracket to mount to your GPU: http://tinyurl.com/c5699x8
He also does custom bench tables, fan grills, case mods, etc. OKAY guy with me! thumb.gif

Oh and you need 35+ Rep to post in the trading forum for that SW guy who asked.

Hope this helps everyone and if you need ideas for modding you NZXT let me know as I do case mods and have done a lot to mine already.

P.S. You can fit a 420x60mm rad in the top but it requires removing the top support beam. It is a lot of work but can be done. I prefer just using a 420x30mm like my Black Ice Stealth GT, this way you can mount 6 140mm fans and still clear the 5 and a quarter bay. camera.gif (Will post pics soon)

And remember if you go to Mayhem or Dwood, tell'em NinjaSushi2 sent ya! wheee.gif

There's a lot of times, actually most of the time, that loop order is not too critical, or even of concern, except as it applies to the res and pump order, it's always a biggie there.
Any chance you could plumb in the 240 between the VRM > NB and the CPU?
That would put your res right before the pump, and at the coolest point in your loop.
Darlene

Yeah always go Reservoir to Pump so you don't damage or burn out your pump. That is the biggest reason why to do it.

@Everyone: This is the best video I've seen on the Switch and the reason why I got it. This dude knows his ****! Let me set the record straight. He hold the number 3 or 4 OC record in the entire UK and is like number 11 or 12 in the world. He is no BS guy when it comes to PCs. Plus he's a buddy of Mick's lol!

I warn you this video is long!! Over 1 hour.

Best NZXT Switch 810 Review video ever!
