Love the mod you did on the 5.25 bays! Looks really slick!
post #6833 of 12127
ive been trying to find a spot to mount an Ipad in the case and run all my diagnostics or monitoring on it , it almost fits on to bottom right of the window side panel and its also almost the same size as the front fan cover , it would take some modding but thats what life is all about right ?!

OK, . . I found why I was getting some leakdown, . . . madsmiley.png
It was the fricken' gage connection adapter.
Turns out the crap adapters to convert G1/4 to NPT are not made too well.
The O ring recess is too deep for the supplied O ring and the female NPT is too shallow for the position of taper it has.
I changed out to a thicker O ring and things improved, and then isolated the gage after a valve, and got leakdown fairly rapidly with such a tiny amount of air space to deplete, but the pressure would restore as soon as the valve opened. I then added a LOT of pipe tape, reran the test, and saw more improvement, so I concluded the adapter was the issue and went on with filling and bleeding.
Net Result: cheers.gif
The loop is up and circulating with no trace of leaks in the last few hours.
With the help of my "Diva Deluxe" all purpose air powered leak tester and filling assistant, and my custom "Diva Deluxe" PWM controller, I was able to fill and bleed so easy a Neanderthal could have done it.
I put my el-cheapo display unit on so I could see what kind of flow rates I was getting versus the pump's RPM to eveluate my loops potential performance.
Results are as follows:
I get 0.8 GPM @ 2200 rpm ( the lower limit I set my controller to allow)
I get 1.0 GPM @ 2500 rpm
I get 1.25 GPM @ 3100 rpm
I get 1.5 GPM @ 3500 rpm
I get 1.75 GPM @ 4300 rpm
Just makes 1.8 GPM @ 4500rpm (the pump's max)
To read the display:
RPM1 = the flow rate in millilitres per minute
RPM2 = pump RPM
RPM3 = pump heatsink's cooling fan RPM
The temp sensors are at ambient.
The pump with the rpm being monitored is the one seen behind the drive bays. There are a pair of 35X's in series in the top bay res, so three seriesed 35X pumps in total to get those flow rates at that level of restriction. Both rads (420 and 240) are Black Ice GT Extremes. The paired 35X's are in the top bay so that the front rad fan blows down on them for cooling, since the heatsink doesn't fit when they are in a res.
Overall, I'm pretty well pleased with my efforts in both the aesthetic and performance departments smile.gif
Guess that means I should get my butt in gear on the GPU's loop pretty soon.
Darlene

Hey, pretty cool on using the device to get the air out! My FrozenQ res keeps like a million tiny bubbles clinging to the helix, but it actually looks pretty cool (to me) with the led's highlighting them instead of the cathode.

try putting a tiny drop of dishwashing soap like dawn and rubbing on the inside of the res through one of the ports ( I know its a pain when its full ) , it helps a lot for clearing the small bubbles .

serious question: Could you please explain the science behind this?
Seems to me like it would just generate more bubbles?

no , you put little enough that it doesnt make foam, dishwashing soap is designed to repel grease from dishes , then theres other stuff in it to make it shine etc. and that "stuff " that repels grease will have a similar effect on the bubbles .. the person that told me to try suggested the pepper experiment to kinda prove the concept , take a bowl and fill it with water , then sprinkle pepper until the surface of the water is pretty littered with pepper put a bit of soap on the tip of your finger and dip your finger in the middle of the bowl , all the pepper gets repelled away to the edges of the bowl, now for some magical reason the same thing happens to bubbles.. Try it and post back please.
