thanks for the replies. I'm using a Z77 and as mentioned the Raystorm is probably the best block for the 1155 socket so I should be good. I've also decided to order a rx240 for the bottom as well as a 7970 Heatkiller-GPU X3 with matching backplate. Man, my wallet sure hates me now sadsmiley.gif

Plug it in a USB 2 port, hook up a case one if need be.
Lotsa times USB 3 doesn't see stuff untill the chip driver is installed, and it sometimes won't install if something is plugged into a USB 3 port when you go to install it.
I don't know what to expect on the intel cooler, I got just a lil' above ambient (upper 30's) on that Thermaltake C30 with both fans.
Water should be about the same at idle, upper 30's maybe for average ambients.
Darlene

Was plugged in USB 2, will play with it when I get home and see whats what. I hope its messed up so i can get a new board in return (hehe)

It has a good pump, good rad, good size fittings, all around the best starter to intermediate kit you could choose.
The 7/16" X 5/8" fittings & tube size will be fine.
If it's for an X79 board, be sure to additionally order the black metal hold down that replaces the acrylic one and still uses the top trim piece. It' about $15 and makes the highly bowed Raystorm flatten out nicely on the physically larger 2011 cpu. It would save the cost of another block and make use of everything in the kit. Well except for the acrylic X hold down.
Darlene

For me, even if I get that kit, i would still get the EK Block (price difference not worth losing sleep) which by the way I did go to bed at 11 instead of 3.

Here is where I'm at. I think I did a good job picking things this time (yes I'm learning). Will order it late next month. Need to get Ram first.

Also officially Radioactive is no more it was passed down along with the guts and everything (well except my 690 and the HDDs), hate using an old celeron laptop.

Anyone know a good fan to replace the stock h100 corsair fans for the radiator?

AP15s are expensive xD
If it comes to it, I'll get it though.
How "cheap" are these yate loons? Are they good? Quiet? Last long?

Cheap like 3 bucks a piece. "Good" as in yes they definitely move some air and have good static pressure. "Quiet" depends on which model you get, whether it be low, med or high speed, high speed is definitely not quiet, but any fan on a controller can be made quiet. I bought some Yate loons for my first water cooling venture a couple years ago, and they are still in use, so that speaks to their longevity.

Alright so in order from best to lowest grade it would be

1. Gentle Typhoons
2. Noctuas
3. Scythe
4. Yates Loons

Correct?

Correct?

It's hard to rank fans like that, and say there's one single universal standard. I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference. Like for me, personally, I would throw some Gelid Wing's on that list....but others might not think so. I own a couple NF-P12's as well, and I think they're great too....well except for the colour scheme, I've just never been able to get past that. The Yate Loons were cool, but because they're so cheap, it kind of shows in their quality. It's been hit or miss for me with getting a few good ones, and a few bad ones, some of the high speed Yate's I have gotten grind.
