Up and down don't matter in a loop - if it did, you could set up a perpetual motion machine with nothing more than a circular tube of water. Every inch the pump has to move water up is precisely balanced by an inch that gravity pulls the water down. It's basic fluid mechanics really; you probably covered it in high school physics!

For any reasonable flow rate, water is cycling through the loop quickly enough that for our purposes you could assume that the entire loop is the same temperature and your math would be as accurate as your sensors can be. Think about it - pulling numbers out of the air here - I filled my loop twice with less than half a gallon of water, so let's say 1/4 gallons total in the loop (we'll call it one liter. That sounds about right cause I had to fill my 250ml res 3 or 4 times.) I'm reading 3.5L/minute flow rate right now, so with 1 liter in the system that's 3.5 cycles per minute.

Now, how long does it take for your water temp to start heating up after you start a stress test? 2-3 minutes? So, 7-10 full cycles? Your water makes 7-10 full circuits around your loop before you can even measure a change in temperature? Sounds like a negligible variation to me, but I'm just an engineering student.

I know I have asked this before but does anyone have the black ice 420mm rad? If so have you have any problems with mounting fans or mounting it to the case? Thanks. axesmiley.png

Here is my problem. I really do think it's the rad because as you will notice in these pics, the fans are attached directly to the rad and not the case+rad. Notice how the screws and fans bend or cant inward.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Am I going crazy or?... I keep getting the run around from HWL and FrozenCPU. Frozen says it's the case, HWL say it's the screws, and I think it's the radiator.

I would just like to say the following.

So I have had quite a few hick-ups in the past with FrozenCPU but let me say this:

After personally speaking with FrozenCPU's CEO Mark and many of his associates, it has come to my attention of the vehement care and meticulosity of the company is bar none. I would like to extend how grateful I am for their customer service. Every time you call FrozenCPU, you don't speak to an automotive machine but an actual person. They go 110% out of their way to resolve any and all the issues at hand. FrozenCPU would also like to apologize to the community if they have shipped any orders that did not meet their customer's standards or have had pieces/parts lacking. FrozenCPU honestly has the best customer service I have ever dealt with, better than NewEgg.com, or any brick and mortar store I have been to. FrozenCPU also cares about how their customers perceive them and would like anyone to contact them personally and immediately upon any order being lackluster or failing to meet the standard. Every order that I have ever placed that had a mistake to it was corrected 100% by FrozenCPU and the shipping was paid for on their part. A+ customer service. I would recommend FrozenCPU to anyone out there based on their crusade to excel at making their customers 100% satisfied alone.

To the community! Mark and his crew do sincerely care about how their customers feel and it is not based on a money or rather in hopes of gaining more business as some may think. They want to be known as the go-to place for anything PC and try their utmost to please everyone. That being said Mark himself, once again the FrozenCPU's CEO, contacted me personally by phone and we resolved an RMA I was having issues with. How often can you really speak to the CEO/President of a company? That is customer satisfaction it's best. Way to go FrozenCPU, you truly are an A+ company.

I have the case in front of me, but nothing to measure with. Can anyone confirm the holes in the bottom are 1/4"? I'm looking to pick up some casters tomorrow and need to know what size shaft to get for the casters. Thanks!

The onboard PSU,

Is designed to suppliment the main PSU when additional graphics cards require more than the main PSU can handle.
It has 2 PCIe 6 pin connectors and 2 PCIe 6+2 pin connectors with one 6 pin and one 6+2 pin on each of its 2 rails.
As such, it has only 12V outputs.
There is no 5V like on the usual 4 pin PC molex connector.
I went with an onboard PSU for the cooling module so that it wouldn't need any serious power connections to the Switch that would reduce the available power for all the switch's onboard needs.
The PCB I made up uses a 3 pin linear voltage regulator IC to create a 5V supply from the 12V supply, so that 5V is avialable in addition to the 12V original source.
The displays that go in the 3.5" bays for the flowmeter and rad fan's rpm monitoring need 5V and 12V, hence the need to make the PCB.
Since I also needed a place to to mount the flow meter electronics module, I sized the PCB to accomodate it, since it interfaces with it anyway.

The white 4 pin connectors on the left side pin out like a normal molex: 5V gnd gnd 12V
The black 3 pin connectors supply the gnd & 12V power for the flowmeter electronics module.
I put extra connectors on the PCB for possible expansion and to power the LEDs in the res.
Darlene Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Took me a while to get back to this as I wanted to do a little research but:
What I have in mind is setting up for monitoring pump rpm's (whenever I get around to soldering tach wires to the pumps), one or two flow meters, and possibly fan rpm's from 2 or 3 fans. I intentionally left only one yellow sensor wire intact at the end of the wiring harnesses I made in each group of radiator fans for the eventual purpose of monitoring rpms.
Presently my Switch has an FC9 & FC8 for pump/fan control, but I have a Scythe Kaze Master Pro in another machine I might swap in place for my FC8 since it does rpm readout....

Since you have hands on with these products maybe you can answer some questions.....
Each Koolance frequency adapter is good for only one flow meter ? If so could it be switched between two meters?
The adapter can be used with pretty much any controller that monitors rpm's?
Is the nightmare black or are the windows painted? no, wait, I forgot to turn down EJ. tongue.gif

Thanks,
G.
