So my case arrived last night. Got myself the matte black edition one.

I'll probably sound like everyone else who has received their first full tower case, but damn this case is huge. I went from the CM Storm Enforcer to this and I am loving the size increase.

I'm currently at work and my sleeved extensions haven't arrived yet so you'll only be getting pictures of the case from the outside, but I'm sure you'll manage.

Has anyone tried putting LEDs through their loop? Wouldn't that be gnarly to daisy chain LEDs in the tubing? The only way I could think to power them would be to have it snake out a fill port on the res.

Same here, came from enforcer case to switch, love the size also
especially if you are working with non-modular PSU (like I do) on middle tower, its a nightmare !

Yeah I have the GS800 and it tends to be quite the mission to work with. Thinking of moving over to the AX850. Sleeved cables as well as my Maximus V Formula are currently in transit so as soon as they arrive, pictures will be up.

The adapter outputs a signal that's the same as a fan outputs, so any controller that reads fan rpm, can display the flow.
One caveat here, is that the flow is displayed in ml/min, so the number can be quite high compared to a fan's rpm. 3785 ml/m is 1gpm, so a flow rates considerably above that may start to exceed the display's capability. My little Aerocool ones crap out at about 6800 to 7000, but you can tell by the flash rate of the led on the adapter that the flow is increasing past that, which I addionally confirmed with a multimeter counting pulse frequency.
Unless you go to a dual loop, there's no need for a second flowmeter, the flow has to be the same at all points in the loop, just as current is the same at all points in a series electrical circuit. (the exception would be for paralleled GPU's where the flow would divide by the number of GPUs)
If you did have 2 flowmeters, there's no reason you couldn't switch the fequency adapter between them, just a double pole, double throw switch would be needed.
In truth though, it'd be more trouble making up and mounting the switch bits than spending another $25 for another adapter, the additional benefit of which would be simultaneous operation/display of both flowmeters.
But, Now here's the interesting thing with the FC9:
The FC9 controls voltage by varying the negative voltage differential from the positive.
Where you'd normally think that the negative is a common or ground reference, and that the positive side would be the controlled variable, it's just the opposite. (sometimes you just can't trust intuition)
If you put an ohm meter on the controller, all the + output pins are in common to the + power in wire. It's the - pins that are not.
It actually makes sense electrically, it's easier/cheaper to control the negative side of a power circuit with NPN Bi Polar transistors, or N channel mosfets, than PNP or P channel.
Anyway, what this translates too, is that it can, and in the case of my rad fans, does, make reading the RPM of something controlled by the FC9 impossible at less than full speed.
I have the FC9 controlling 3 groups of 6 fans each on the big rad. (haven't bought all the fans yet) I have a tach wire for each group that will attach to one of the 6 fans, that will connect back to and display on the little 3.5" bay unit. This one:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/6555/bus-115/Aerocool_EasyWatch_35_Fan_Controller_Temperature_Monitoring_Panel_-_Black.html?tl=g47c17s284
So far testing has revealed that with just a tach wire connected to the display, it reads the fan speed fine at max speed, but if I slow it down, the display looses the signal and just flashes. (at virtually anything less than max)
I was thinking about connecting a negative wire along with the tach wire of each group to the display to see if that works better, (it would if the display has differential inputs, but what are the odds of being lucky like that) but I really don't want to risk burning out the display, or an FC9 channel at the moment, as I'm not really all that concerned with the actual fan speeds, just would make a nice bit of extra info.
Obviously my testing is limited to the particulat display mentioned, and it's a pretty bare bones / low cost one. Its virtue is it's the best one I found in the smaller, 3.5" bay size.
As I get opportunity, I'll be looking into reading rpm from things controlled by the FC9 in more depth.
Hope that gives you some info to work with,
Darlene

Well it's true I don't need two flow meters at this time, I was just looking at future options. Could be useful at some point.

Understood on the FC9, and I am so glad you discovered that. My knowledge of DC circuit design has dimmed from it's never very lofty peak over the years, so I guess I'm saying I'm probably not going to be fabbing up anything to deal with signal conversion.
Bummer #2 is that this means connecting signal and ground to the mobo from whatever is run off the FC9 is also a big no-go as like you I don't want to take that chance.

Thanks for the information, you have saved me a bunch of useless work and possibly a major mistake. thumb.gif

Yeah that's the reason why I haven't flipped it over. I am, however, buying the NZXT sleeved LED kit so I'll flip it then.

I see your pics and they remind me of when I first started my project. I went from a Storm Scout to a Phantom 410 then to the Switch 810. Big difference. drool.gif
