So I'm about to finalize my watercooling purchase and need some insight. I want to drop in a 420 rad up top and primarily want a low(er) noise system. Should I go with a UT60 and pull or XT45 and push/pull? Also, are NZXT 140 fans any good for rads?

Lastly, and I plan to look everywhere else, who currently makes the best black tubing?

Good luck,

Thanks much. I think I have all the resistors so am at least that much in the game already. When I can cut loose from "kitchen mods" I'll get up to the Shack. thumb.gif

Newest front cover on my rig:

Details in build log, along with some new pics for those who care to look.

A crowbar and a blow torch help, a lot, but some serious mod skills and the right alternative tools work well too.
Make it easier on yourself with a lot less grief and hassle, and just go with a full thickness 360 kit.
It's the most bang for the buck going.
I've become convinced that if you have to be here asking, you're not the kind that does their due dilligence and enough research, and hence shouldn't be embarking on a project sure to turn into a quagmire.
Get one of these kits:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_202_972&products_id=33549
It's almost easy enough for a caveman to install. It has a damn nice pump and cpu block.
It's a solid kit at a good price point.
I'm Darlene, and I approve this message.

I agree with you completely and everytime someone asks about a 420 I want to yell at them , the case is designed to take a 360 on top and a 240 on the bottom clean and easy , even RX in push pull , why over complicate things by wanting to shove a thin 420 in there . Sure , if you have the experience to mod it and want to do it for kicks dont try to convince me its for performance alone. I like the look of a 420 especially because the you have the 4 fans in the top compartment and it seems like a good use of space but I didnt think it was worth cutting up a bay for it. I dont mean to offend people that did do it , just saying its not a flaw that the case cant really do it when stock .

I agree you and Darlene have all the rights to yell and scream at people. But in their defense (as I asked the same question) can I suggest updating the "Does it fit?" section on the very first page of this thread by Xnine to be more specific in terms of how much work might be needed and should not be recommended for people planning their first loops. When I read that, my impression was that I would have to do some basic modifications. A little note their might prevent these questions as I honestly didn't read every single page on this thread. I did read the first page and it was really really informative.

I will say, that me as a noob when it comes to modding/water cooling have learned a lot. I haven't done anything yet but I do feel more informed and less confused in terms of what I can achieve and what I cannot.

This place has been like a bible to me and I thank all the people who have answered my questions and above all corrected me. smile.gif

yeah I havnt done much modding either and thats why I went with an RX360 kit + a RX240 for my loop , its fine that people want to put a 420 as long as they dont think its the only way to get tgood results with this case .
