hi all Eric here.

have a couple of questions for an upcoming build i am planning,
Thanks in advance for your help / knowledge

specks are as follows

CASE
NZXT Switch 810

PSU
Corsair 850W Gold Professional Series 80PLUS Gold Modular PSU Corsair 850W Gold Professional
Series 80PLUS Gold Modular PSU

HDD PRIMARY O/S
OCZ Technology 256GB Vertex 4 SATA 6Gb/s 2.5 OCZ Technology 256GB Vertex 4 SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Drive

DATA HDD'S - NOT IN A RAID SETUP
4 OF THESE
Seagate 3TB Barracuda SATA 6GB/s 64MB 7200RPM 3.5 Seagate 3TB Barracuda SATA 6GB/s 64MB 7200RPM 3.5" Hard Drive

GRAPHICS CARD
GeForce GTX 680 - (to be water cooled along with cpu)

O/S
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional w/SP1 - 64-bit - English

DVD WRITERS
Samsung SH-222BB/RSMS 22x DVD Writer SATA Retail (3 Bezels) Samsung SH-222BB/RSMS 22x DVD Writer SATA Retail (3 Bezels)
and
Pioneer DVD-RW 24x SATA Internal - Retail Box Pioneer DVD-RW 24x SATA Internal

CPU
Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz S2011 12MB (6 core Multi threaded)

MOTHERBOARD
Asus Rampage 4 extreme / or formula

MEMORY
G.Skill 32GB (4 x 8GB) TridentX DDR3 2400MHz DIMM 240-pin

I plan to use something similar to the following to water cool the system ( may have to only install one dvd writer if i use the dual bay res with the kit below) - or i might swap it out for a single bay res and keep the 2 dvd writers (i do a lot of video / dvd / photography work that leads to authoring dvd's and an extra dvd would speed up duplications)

XSPC RayStorm D5 RX360 WaterCooling Kit
or the RX240 D5 kit

I know rads can be fitted to the floor or even the front bottom of the case but i want the drive cages intact for storage.

My questions are

Can either the rx 360 OR the RX 240 both 50mm thich rads be installed in the roof with a push pull with the either the asus ramapge 4 extreme or rampage 4 formula mo/bo - i believe there might be chip set clearance issues.

I believe the RX360 50mm thick rad is a very close fit in the roof (front where 5.25 drive bays are. will the RS360 25mm rad fit with a push pull setup?

thanks in advance for your help.

Eric

Eric,

Since you'll be doing a GPU and a CPU, a 360 rad ought to be enough, though you could always mount a smaller rad (like a 120 or 140) in the bottom as well. There may be clearance issues going push/pull, but I don't think so with either of those Asus boards you listed. They don't have ginormous heatsinks on the top of them that would prevent fans from being mounted there.

Sure thing man!

Those are Alphacool Hose Clamps - Chrome

I really like them. The only thing is you need to have some GI Joe KungFu Grip going on to even open these things up. Once on though, they are not going anywhere.

Those are okay, but can be tough to get worked on or off a fitting. I've actually used a few of these: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12520/ex-tub-803/Lamptron_Elite_Aluminum_Reusable_34_OD_Liquid_Tubing_Clamps_-_Anodized_Black.html?tl=g30c289s723

I really like them. Pricey, yes, but they're worth it, in my opinion. Plus, chicks dig them, so why not? tongue.gif

Getting back to topic.

I picked up 6, 120 X 38 Ultra Kaze 3000 RPM fans - LINK

What should I look for in a fan controller (the only time I used one was in my phantom) so I'm not too familiar with them. What would be some good recommendations for a fan controller for the fans above and would love something that would blend well with the case with min modifications.

Thanks guys.

So I'm looking to modify the side Window to be bigger and possibly do something with the front and top piece as well.
I want something near stock. I. E. Window is flush, doesn't look like any mounting is visible.
Any ideas? The only one I have is cut opening, cut acrylic, shave acrylic so it'll be flush, tape acrylic where it's shaved down. Although this satisfies the requirements, I feel like it would stick out (on the inside) too much.
