Thanks. My DSLR makes the lighting look pretty weird. I think it's probably overexposing the area that is illuminated with the 2 meter NZXT LED strip.

Got some caster wheels from Home Depot the other day a cut the shafts down to 1cm in length to fit the holes in the bottom of the Switch. I think they were a 5/16" shaft. Makes moving the case a lot easier.
DSC_7040s.JPG
Getting ready to make some cuts in my front panel. Thinking about picking up one of those protractors that have the pivoting ruler attached to them to make the 2 horizontal bars the same angle as the bottom.
Still waiting on my replacement Sentry Mesh for my buzzing Sentry Mix after 9 weeks and 5+ phone calls.

I made 4 full horizontal and one partial cuts in my original front cover, I just laid it out with a ruler and eyeballed it, made some holes with a drill press and cut out with a jigsaw. It's somewhere back in this thread or in the middle of my build log somewhere. I since made a custom acrylic cover to replace it, though.

If you use a ex240/rx240 on the bottom of the switch 810, what power supply do you use and how do you manage your cables? I picked up a power supply that is 7 7/8" in length and it only gives maybe an inch between power supply and radiator. I have not yet start but that does not seem like enough space. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I saw that post and a few others for motivation. I just used a ruler and a huge drywall square to make the lines straight and perpendicular.

hi all Eric here

I need help from specific 810 owners out there.

My build that i'm considering contains a Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 mo/bo and the XSPC RayStorm D5 RX360 WaterCooling Kit.

i really want to put the rad in the roof in a push/pull configuration but I have seen numerous reviews that say (depending on the motherboard that push/pull wont fit using a 60 mm rad).

so my question to anyone out there with a 60mm thick rad and a rampage iv extreme mo/bo is - will push/pull work with standard 25mm fans underneath the rad or will either the 12 volt socket or the mo/bo h/s get in the way.

If not would 20mm thick fans fit.

and 1 final question - has anyone run temp tests on an overclocked 3930k with 60mm rad with following configs

1 only pull fans on top of case sucking air true rad and out top of case
2 puch fans ontop of case pushing cold air tru rad into case

3 what would the comparable temps be for a push pull 30mm rad setup compared to either of the pull / push options in 1,2.

P.S. also considering an sr-1 360 rad which is 56mm thick would this give mo/bo clearance with 25mm fans

thanks in advance for your help

I don't have that board, but looking at pictures of it I could see those connectors up top and the way that heatsink goes right up to the edge giving you a little trouble.

I've got the SR-1 rad in the top with 25mm fans under it, and it doesn't interfere with the mobo at all. There are a few mm between the bottom of the fans and the top of the mobo, so I'd say the worst you'll face is some restricted airflow and finding a way to route the cables.

The difference between using intake and exhaust will be about 2c depending on your fan speeds. Intake will lower your water temp but raise your case temp, exhaust will do the opposite.

Going with a push only or pull only setup just means you'll have to run the fans faster/louder to get the same cooling power. It's up to you, but I think you can make that board work with that rad in push/pull.

hi Traches

sounds like the sr-1 would work then as the h/s doesn't come up higher than the mother board itself.

"The difference between using intake and exhaust will be about 2c depending on your fan speeds. Intake will lower your water temp but raise your case temp, exhaust will do the opposite."

k thanks for that info it really helps.

"Going with a push only or pull only setup just means you'll have to run the fans faster/louder to get the same cooling power. It's up to you, but I think you can make that board work with that rad in push/pull."

by "that rad" do you mean the xspc or the sr-1 360.

ps check out the photo i found here
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/asus_rampage_iv_extreme_review,3.html

seems the heat sincs are a good bit in on the mobo - the only problem could be the 12v connectors and more so the i/o ps2 / usb tower?

thanks again for fast reply.

Eric

Eric

I can almost guarantee (I don't 100% guarantee it since I am not using the RIVE) the SR-1 will be fine, but I am not sure about the RX360. I have a feeling you will run into some trouble with the RX360 and the RIVE.

The RX-360 is listed as being 63mm in height - the SR-1 is listed as being 54mm in height. My RX-360 in p/p config - 25mm fans - install, with an Asus z77 board, had a problem only with the 8pin connector. Yes a single 20mm fan would have alleviated my 8pin connector problem. I had to shave the rear fan shroud to allow it to sit over the connector.

I can't say about the Rive board, I'd do a search of Rive in this very thread.
