Re mandrak thanks for the info
Re CRViper thanks for the photos really helps visualise how close the rads+ the fan gets to being level with the top of the mo/bo.
If you were to take a ruler and lay it across on the fan and follow the line of the ruler down to the back of the case till it met the top of the motherboard could you tell me in mm just how much if any clearance the motherboard itself has (not the 12v header). this clearance I presume would be fairly standard if not the same between the maximus v formula and the rampage 4 extreme I.e. the distance of the 3 fixing holes across the top of the motherboard to the top of the actual motherboard should be very similar.
PS CRViper awesome rig smile.gif
Thanks again for all your input/knoledge
Eric

Well maybe the other modders can advise you if it's the same. But for mine the spacing between the fans to the motherboard as what you described is abt 3-4mm give or take.

It would be amazing what an inch between the top of the motherboard to the radiator (top) and maybe another three inches between the power supply and the bottom radiator (might actually be able to fit a power supply larger than 6.3 inches).

The RS360 (35mm thick) DOES get a considerable bump in performance with a "push/pull" set up. Pretty much across the board at all fan speeds.

You bring up a good example that brings out why over generalization (regrettably, on my part in that instance) can be misleading or incorrect.

As you point out, it isn't always true, but:

While that graph shows a relativley similar gain between the thinner RS and the thicker RX with p-p, I would offer that what you're really seeing is not so much how much better p-p is on the thinner rad, but on how relativley less effective it is on the thicker one, owing to its sub 8fpi, low airflow resistance construction.

Look back at the link, and look at the watts dissipated by the other 60mm rads versus the RX for example, once you get to 1000 rpm and up, the RX is bested by even the UT45, so I see it as more the exception than the rule.

YMMV

If anyone is planning to order something from Performance PCS, they emailed me a code after I asked if I can get a discount and was given a code. I could not find one when I googled, so if anyone is planning to spend more than $50.00 feel free to use it.

"You can use FEDEX55 for 5.5% off order."

Update - Everything needed for my build is either already home or on a truck. Cant wait to get started on my build. biggrin.gif

Water cooling parts for the switch were delivered today biggrin.gif Couple more pieces still need to be ordered and this monster will roar to life

For anyone wondering, or even if you aren't, the Heat Killer blocks are heavy as phuck! I am very impressed with the build quality and looks. Now lets hope they cool as well as they look, which shouldn't be an issue!

Man that is a great lookin block! They don't get much better then that. Nice rad's too. Great performers and they should fit without having to drill any holes iirc.
