Yeah that what I mean. My res  (Danger Den RAD-RES) didn't come with one so I got a piece of silver tubing and flared the end just enough to hold it in the compression fitting so it wouldn't fall into the res. After I did that my loop has been running perfect. I was happy with the temps I had before but once it was bled out and filled properly my temps are way better.

Hey guys, sorta new to the whole water cooling so please go easy.

Ive been doing some reasearching and it seems that some motherboards arent compatible with this setup. Im just curious if you guys knew if a 420 (60 mm thick) top mounted rad push/pull would clear any of these motherboard heatsinks on the Switch 810. I tried searching for people that would have this combination but came empty so far. Since this is the official switch 810 thread, i thought it would be best to ask for your opinions.

I have not bought any parts yet but definitely gonna get the Switch 810 for sure

Asus Sabertooth Z77

Welcome to the right place about Switch builds.

First post has this:

Watercooling:
RADIATORS
In the top: Radiators 3x120mm, 3x140mm, 4x120mm (with modification) and optical drive moved to a lower bay. Note that 60mm thick Radiatiors may not fit with push/pull fan configuration because of your motherboards' mosfets and other items.
In the bottom: Radiators: 1x120mm, 2x120mm (if bottom HDD cage is removed). Note that your PSU can not be longer than 160mm if you want to place a single rad between the PSU and HDD cage, or a 2x120 Radiator in the bottom.
Options: 1x120mm Radiator on HDD cage, 2x120mm Radiator on HDD cage.

A 60mm rad will not clear the big bang mpower with push pull. The heatsink is all the way to the top of the mobo.

RADIATORS
In the top: Radiators 3x120mm, 3x140mm, 4x120mm (with modification) and optical drive moved to a lower bay. Note that 60mm thick Radiatiors may not fit with push/pull fan configuration because of your motherboards' mosfets and other items.
In the bottom: Radiators: 1x120mm, 2x120mm (if bottom HDD cage is removed). Note that your PSU can not be longer than 160mm if you want to place a single rad between the PSU and HDD cage, or a 2x120 Radiator in the bottom.

NewHighScore - thanks for clarifying that. Its too bad because I really wanted to go with the MSI GTX 680 Lightning to match it up as well. They look great together.

PatrickCrowely - Awesome, thanks for letting me know. This was the motherboard that I originally wanted to go with. Since it clears, Im probably gonna go with this one.

XNine - This is a great community. I asked the same question on a different forum and got no responses. A++ in my books for everyones support.. I will definitely check in more often. Looking forward to seeing everyones builds

I can't say exactly if a pushpull would fit, but to be clear, the pilling fans are above the "top" of the case. I don't know what to call it, but the switch leaves room for three 140/120mm fans on top of the case, and then under that one can mount a radiator, this is what I have done, and I think there is room for fans, at least thin ones.
Secondly, pushpull can sometimes look really good, but in the the end you don't get much better temps. :/
(This doesn't mean I'm not going pushpull soon smile.gif )

This test from Martin's Liquid Lab would argue otherwise, and it holds true for both a full thickness (RX360) and slim (RS360) radiator.
