Just got my black switch 810 today. It its an awesome case and much better then my old rosewill blackhawk (not that the blackhawk wasnt great either). Ill post some pics once I get my xspc rx 360 kit installed tommorrow.

Just a question on it, the plexi on the side panel isnt 100% clear, its got kind of a smudged look on the top 2/3rd and its not smudged, is this normal? And yes I removed all the the protective film.

Thinking of taking the jump into watercooling as i have had my switch case for around 6 months now, getting tired of the horrible big heatsink look.

I would love some advice though if you guys dont mind, i was thinking of taking the easy route and trying a corsair h100i to start with and see how that would go but i really would like to go down the custom route at some point. Would i be right in saying for a dual rad like the h100i has would that best be placed at the top of the switch by removing my 3 140mm fans i have up there?

Cheers guys

I would say it all depends on your budget and how much you are willing to spend on a custom loop. I already spent close to $900 and I still haven't ordered the fittings yet. If all you're looking for is better cooling for overclocking than the H100 should do the job.

If you do want to get into watercooling, you should check out the watercooling threads or ask some of the switch owners here like pcmoddermike. They are really helpful

You would do fine with that h100i, in fact I am one of custom loop user yet I love how that h100i performs at that price
custom loop is just too addictive and honestly its costly both in assembly and maintenance.
You might wanna change the fans to 120mm so it would fits and screwed perfectly for the rad

I had the same problem with mine. Its kinda blurry right? Reflects funny in light? I talked to Xnine about getting another one. If it bothers you like it did for me I would speak to him as well..

Anyone buy there switch from Microcenter 2 months ago and get there $30 rebate??

I forget who I sent the rebate too and want to check in on it.. Anyone know?

Update:

In case anyone else was wondering the MC rebate was from http://www.aftcorp.com/
I checked my status and it said approved.. Guess I have to keep waiting.. There wasnt a number to call or a way to see if it was actually mailed yet.

Oh and even though Microcenter doesnt say it.. There is a $20 rebate from them! Expires 12/2

It all depends on what you want to WC and how fancy you want to get. You could start off small with a $163-$299 XSPC Raystorm kit (depending if you want an RS360 or the much more cooling capacity of the RX360, and if you want the 750 pump or a D5 pump, etc) and then add a water block for your video card for about $100. Factor in maybe another $50-100 for fans if you want to go with 3 (standard) or 6 ("push pull") for even more cooling, and you can have a CPU and video card water cooling system that will easily fit in the Switch 810 and do much more than an H100 (since it will cool your video card) for between $310 and maybe $449.

Basic: XSPC Raystorm 750 RS360 Extreme Universal CPU Water Cooling Kit w/ Free Dead-Water!

Upper end: XSPC Raystorm RX360 Universal CPU Water Cooling Kit w/ D5 Variant Pump Included and Free Dead-Water!

Example of waterblock: EK Radeon 7850 GTX VGA Liquid Cooling Block

Add $2 worth of distilled water from a local food/drug store and you are set.

The really expensive rigs are mainly done by people who want something very specific, need an insane amount of cooling, or want it to look crazy good to show off. I've done both $280 kits (my Folding@Home Team Competition rig) and full on custom $1200 water cooling systems (my current main game machine).

wow thanks so much for this guys im really grateful!

I guess long term it will be a nice achievement to go for a complete custom loop but i think i might be held back at the mo due to a new born on the way tongue.gif so maybe a corsair h100i may be the way to go for me at the mo finance wise.

Thanks for that spec kunckle head i will be referring back to that at some point for sure!

I am currently using a Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler on my i5 2500k, i have it overclocked to 4.5ghz at 1.30v and so far stress testing with IBT i have never seen it go over 55c so i think the air cooler does do a good job i just want something that looks a bit cleaner and i hate having to move my machine around with that hanging off the board biggrin.gif. If the h100i can give me more a less the same performance i think i will definatly go for it along with a couple of quiter fans perhaps a couple of gentle typhoons?

Would it be worth having a push pull on a dual rad? if the rad was to be mounted in the top of the switch would i have to mount 2 of the fans on the inside of the case and 2 on the outside of the rad if you see what i mean?

Thanks so much again guys for your advice

From what I know having push/pull doesnt really add to the drop in temperature much yet you gain some fans noises (since Im a silent freak)
I prefer a pull config so that you can easily clean the rad grills with blowers without having any fans on the way

and yes if you wanna do push/pull you can do as you planned above, 2 in and 2 outs
