This APU is 100w/65w...not much difference. Also that ram is like ~10w...and this is on 100% load...which I seriously doubt the cpu/ram/gpu will be at...
Also dude if you get the APU I recommend 1600mhz Ram...it will make sure there is NO skips due to the improved bandwidth!
Here's what I recommend for APU/MOBO/RAM:
APU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103951
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131789R
Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147095
Trust me when I say this, the performance will be MUCH better than a gt520 (and better than a gt430).
W/e you decide to do show us pics smile.gif.
P.S. subbed.

I completely agree, its this type of build APU's were designed for, also, without a dedicated graphics card, you'll save some space and you'll have better airflow possibly

Exactly...this would be PERFECT for you smile.gif. Spend the extra $ on the mobo and reap the performance. also much easier to install.

I was looking at the APU's before I bought all this stuff last night, and you are right about the power consumption and how they perform. However.. the cheapest mini-ITX FM1 board on newegg was $90.. and then the cheapest LLano processor was $65.. so it would have been pushing my budget to even more money that I didn't want to spend haha. I was trying to keep this on the cheap thumb.gif

If I have any skips due to the HD graphics I'll buy a cheap dedicated low-profile card DX11 off eBay and make it fit. rolleyes.gif They should be really easy to make fit.

aaaaaaand I'll add pics n' stuffs when I start getting parts in. wink.gif Thanks for the subs!

I'm actually in the process of doing something like this although a bit more ambitious. I'll post something later on, but for now I gotta practice cutting things with the dremel... I only have one xbox 360 case I'd like to use the other I'd prefer not using.

I'd probably suggest the APU as well since generally they perform much better than the standard cards do... if you go intel and LP card look at the HD 6570 it's more powerful than the intel hd 2000/3000 and similar to that in the APU but I don't remember the power consumption at all. I saw a LP 450 somewhere as well but you'd have to switch your PSU probably for the 2x130w PSUs that were listed somewhere but that'd throw the cost way up.

I'll be subing this to see if I can get any ideas etc.

btw if you want some LP ram take a look at these http://canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_312_611&item_id=035095 it's what I'll be using.

I don't know if these are the same or not http://canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_312_611&item_id=033269...

these go just over the white braces but no heatsinks but should be fine for something you aren't looking for extreme performance.

PS ignore the big grey thing, I was using it to test something lol...

I don't think low profile RAM is completely necessary. As long as the heat sinks on the RAM aren't something like Corsair Vengeance I don't think there will be any clearance issues whatsoever. A 6570 has something like 60-70W TDP so I'd be pushing it on the wattage I'd think. If I do get a low profile card it will more than likely be a GT 520 or a 6450/5450, as they all use around 30W of power peak and those solutions are more than enough for movies.

Liking the big gray thing though for sure! thumb.gifthumb.gif

You have a fair point. As long as you're happy good (Y). But I will say, hd200 STUTTERS on 1080p.

My sony vaio z laptop (hd3000) when undocked stutters @ 1080p frown.gif. GL with that hd2000.

Anyway how will you fasten your MOBO to the 360 frame?

Oh and save youtself 4 bucks, gain a bit of performance with integrated video, and use this RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147095 .

Edit: If you're considering a GPU you might as-well just get the APU :/.

As I have said again and again, the APU's price point is too high considering the cheapest FM1 socket motherboard is $90. The RAM I purchased was $24 eco RAM with very small heat spreaders. It will be fine.

I am not sure how the motherboard will be fastened to the frame yet, as I need to actually have it here so I can compare the two. Hopefully some slots line right up, otherwise I'll figure something out. thumb.gif I'm pretty sure the Newegg delivery will arrive on Monday.. It is already in my state as of today. Which I'm really surprised.. I ordered it on Friday and it came from CA to IL. The Amazon delivery and the Mini-box delivery will be here either Tuesday or Wednesday.

and so.. the SB CPU will be far superior in CPU tasks than the LLano chip, and a dedicated budget card ($40 GT 430) with the SB CPU it will still be slightly cheaper than the APU overall (CPU/Motherboard) and offer superior performance.

The APU really does look like a good deal until you look at FM1 socket prices... and it would be a better deal if I was considering something like an A8, but for the A4 it isn't worth considering IMO.

Besidesssssss. Everything is already purchased thumb.gifthumb.gif
