I would say that is caused by your PSU, i had the exact same problem like.. a year ago, changed the PSU and everything was 100% good wink.gif

Yeh get a new one but def 100% pull it out your computer and throw it against a wall before your computer dies!!

Yesterday while i was playing STO maxed i noticed that smell but it was much more intense i guess you could say. It was the same smell but it smelt up my entire room instead of just the case. I dont think its the power supply even though my power supply is dying. Could it be the new cooler i got for my processor? I just build this computer and all of the components are bran new except the POS power supply. Ive never ran my new cooler with that high of temps so all i could think of as maybe it was the cooler or new thermal paste? also my temps were normal for the computer being stressed by the game i was running. GPU was about 60-65*C and the cpu was around 50-60*C nothing was over heating.

I have the same smell. Its burnt solder.

I sleep with my mac next to me (watching videos and listening to music) and all I can smell is burnt solder. smells so bad frown.gif

in your case it could be your psu because your new parts shouldn't smell of burnt solder and you did say you haven't ran these temps before so maybe the psu can't handle that load.

My best thought would be to find an psu and test it to see if you don't smell the smell again but wait unti the smell is gone from your nose otherwise the test will be useless.

ive pretty much already done that. i konw for sure its not my graphics card, its around my cpu which looks and runs totally fine. and burning solder or melting? becasue solder doesnt begin to melt until over 90*C, my temps have never been even close to that.

removed my graphics card until i get a new power supply, now the psu isnt constantly being stressed, the integrated graphics in my cpu are already prety kickass so it should hold me over for now
