well, i'm about half way thru the cable management and i'm calling it a day. here's how it all looks after about six hours work

before:

after:

i'm not 100% happy with it... after the sleeving and gathering cables, looking at them laid out i was like... "cool!".... plugging them into the motherboard i was more like... "meh". can't put my finger on it tho. i'm thinking that so little of the sleeving shows that i's hardly worth the effort and that it might have actually looked better without the uv reactive wrapper. i still like what i've done with the i/o panel cables but the wrapper... meh. i don't know what else to do tho.

thoughts?

lights, pretty lights...

i'm going to put the build on hold for a bit, because i'm waiting for delivery of some more sleeving accessories. i've ordered some blue uv reactive stuff to replace the one that was supposed to be uv red but it's more like a washed pink. i also need to do some electrical work to route the lights thru the fan controller. i suck at electrics so i'm probably going to screw something up, but there's just no way i'm keeping the ugly switch and the lengthy cable that came with the cold cathode lights.

there's not much for the uv lights to bring out nicely right now, because the mother board is covered in black plastic... but i was thinking ahead when i bought them and it's really going to look awesome when i get the wc loop in place

i'm VERY open to suggestions as to what exactly i should do with the cables. i'm a bit desperate to be honest, or maybe disappointed is more appropriate... i easily become enthused and just as easily fall into depression when thing don't go my way smile.gif

even if this is my first build and i'm nowhere near done with the cable management, what i've done so far is not what i had hoped to do... there's just so many cables lol... i can't see a solution as to how to achieve a clean look... i'm not worried about the back of the motherboard... what i am worried about is the cables that plug into the motherboard and currently look like crap and also the cables for the lights... the inverter and the switch... i'll post a picture later to show you what i'm talking about and how bad it looks.

PS i've edited the first post in the thread to make it easier to find pics and different sections

I actually had 0 cable management for the past 10 years of PC building because i'm lazy and cheap.

Wanna know what I did this time?

Duct tape.

Piece of duct tape wrapped around the "loose" parts of the cables. Wrap it well. It in fact makes working with the cables easier as they now stay bent more easily than before. Just make sure you seal it totally with the sticky side so theres nothing for dust to stick to on the outside. Furthermore, the silver color goes well in any case, particularly a black themed one such as yours.

Just my 2 cents on a cheap, effective solution. Though I cannot take credit for the idea, I got it from someone on these boards.

As for the AMOUNT of cables, I'm in the same boat man. Not much to be done. my psu is NOT modular, so all the extra unused cables must stay inside the case. I just shove them on top of my DVD drive in an open 5.25" area. Keeps the majority of them out of sight and out of mind. The rest I just deal and try and wrap around others or tie wrap or w/e it is I do.

From the loks of everything your wire management looks fine but i can't see the other side of the case either where all the wires are to help. Looking good so far man don't get discourage take a break when you get mad and relax have beer then come back to it with a clear head.

i'm not worried about the other side. i can manage that. i'm worried about the cables that are visible.

ofc, i realize i can't have a first build looking like some of the wonderful works of art on this forum, done by experienced modders... i was just hoping for a cleaner look... so i'll keep ordering a ton of cable management accessories and i'll keep working until i'm happy with the result smile.gif

Hide as much of the cables as possible, remove any unnecessary ones... check the "rate my cable management" thread for inspiration wink.gif clean out the dust and fingerprints and get rid of that cable sleeve thing, it looks like a cubicle cord is attached to your PSU tongue.gif

while i'm still waiting for my new sleeving bits, i've put in the side window. it's far from perfect, but for the first time cutting a sheet of metal, i think it turned out pretty decent smile.gif

taping:

cutting:

testing if it fits:

finished product:

will post a pic of the panel actually on the case, just needs some finishing touches, when i get around to them wink.gif
