New FX6100 rig overclocking assistance

Thread Starter
Well as the tittle says I just built this rig yesterday and it's running nice smile.gif I built it for overclocking.

Now I'm used to using gigabyte mobo and now I have an Asus M5A97
I'm confused on how the voltages and such work on this board since it only shows a number on the side where it says auto now I don't know if thats the increment I'm giving it or the actual input for the voltage that is gona be. I was going to start by overclocking my cpu/NB to 2400mhz
now when i go to the voltage section it says 0.900000 when I give it + once

I'm just starting at this and I wanted someone to guide me through my experienceon this overclocking rig

Specs are
Fx6100 cpu
M5A97 asus mobo
H80 corsair cpu cooler
MSI 6870 Hawk Twinfrzr III
Diablotek 675W PSU/
CMStorm mid tower case

I'm posting this down here cause I can't see anywhere to edit my rig or w.e as it used to be I havn't been on this forum in a long time any assistance will be gladly apriciates and of course rep votes will be given smile.gif

Sorry for my spelling mistakes if any english isn't my first language

well I've figured the voltage thing it's just the increment I'm giving it

I Just set thecpu frequency to match the ram speed wich is 1600 for further overclocking mess with multiplier and not have problems with ram clocks without suing multiplier cpu speed is at 3.8ghz with a slight bump of voltage just to make sure I am currently stress testing it for 10 min to see if its ok to go up

I will be posting what I'm doing with it as I do it any opinions or advice will be apreciated

Managed to get 4.0ghz using the bus frequency to 240 and voltage to 1.4v I've seen people reaching 4.0ghz without such volts kinda sad maybe i'm doing something wrong and heh no replies yet still me speaking to myself booo

Ran occt for about 20 min to check for stability usually occt finds voltage problems in under 5 min

Firstly, what oc do you want to achieve?

I have M5A97 Pro which uses the same Uefi bios across all the M5A97

What I did to oc my 6100 was leave the fsb at 200 (othewrwise it affects your ram) and push the multiplyer instead. Multiplyer @ x21 and cpu volts @1.3 gives a comfortable 4.2Ghz

Multiplyer is called CPU Ratio in M5A97 Uefi. ;-)

Yes I know about the multiplier and such well I was hoping to achieve 4.4-4.5ghz I have been using the fsb while watching the ram speed at 240 fsb it goes to about 1606 I think it was and its been stable on occt for 30 min now.

I was told if i could find a stable point using the FSB to then deal with multiplier i could achieve a more efficient overclock . I honestly don't know if this is a fact but I gave it a shot

since you got that board have you tried o/cing the cpu/NB I was hoping to get 2.4 since this affects data transfer and such I know for a fact 2.0ghz does bottleneck overclocking and high end videocard atleast I found this to be the case for my last build with a phenom II x4 955BE

IDK if your just trolling me but 1.5v is a bit high for what I want to achieve and I beleive max recommended voltage on these chips is around 1.48v
