New FX6100 rig overclocking assistance - Page 4

That doesn't sound good deathskater. I struggle getting more than 4.6 withought temps running away in Prime. So I've settled for 4.2 with just the multi. Didn't really see any gain from pushing the fsb + couldn't get 4.2 bang on and that upset my ocd. lol.

I'll do you a pic of my bios screen... see if that's any help but it doesn't sound good.
Have you tried the asus overclock program, just out of curiosity. See how it compares to what I got..... Don't install it if you have't; it's ****.

I use the asus program for manual tunning after I set it all in bios. It helps to not needing to got to bios every time and simply keep working on it and then set it all on bios smile.gif

i will be sticking to fsb at 241 since it's giving me far better results any further overclocking will use the multiplier my temps arent's going past 55C atm so I still got some room for more overclocking

naaa parts only had 3 days I went to my local Compusa and exchanged everything lol the psu was ******* up with voltages giving random spikes I confirmed it with my trusty voltmeter smile.gif so it ****ed my mobo and changed everything just in case

Picked up a 8120 lol switched the h80 for a V6 cooler master I won't be overclocking that much this time new objective on this chip is 4.0 if it can reach 4.2 great smile.gif and switched from CM storm to the Thermaltake armor

and got a Thermaltake 600W psu this shouldnt **** up my voltages like that diablotek piece of ****

Why the cooler switch? The H80 out performs any air cooler! I also read in many places that the 8120 really oc's nicely. 4.5 Ghz nice. thumb.gif

Goto this thread, as you'll see most people have there NB or (CPU/NB, same thing) frequencies set to 3000 + MHz

http://www.overclock.net/t/1085742/amd-maxxmem-results-rankings

As for the poeple that said AMD cpu's dont like higher NB ( or CPU/NB same thing) frequencies is were you seperate the amateur overclockers from the experienced.
Some people just go into the bios and + the multiplyer and call it an OC. It does work but you will lose lots of untapped performance.

To get the best Oc and performance you need to have a mix of FSB, multiplyer, NB frequencies, voltages, Bios settings, an understanding of what ALL the different settings mean, windows settings. and ram tweekings ( And lots of trial and error) . And of course good hardware. After which you will get your higher frequencies.

Also aways double check any advice you're going to use that somebody on a forum gives you. I have had some people who didn't know I knew alot about Ocing give me some really dangerous advice.

You guy's getting low clocks out of these really have me tempted to put my TRUE -120 on my chip just to see how much my water loop is allowing me to oc over air.
At 1.48 vcore under load my cores bounce right around 65° after 12+ hours prime95 on my custom water loop at 4.7Ghz.
