New 1155 build looking for review before purchase, please.

Hi OCN, wave2.gif
I am getting ready to purchase the parts for my new 1155 build, provided all goes well after my taxes appointment. A couple side notes first though.

  1. I am set on the PSU, I have the same one in my Jango build and like it. Plus the price is just right for me. I am still willing to listen to opinions though.
  2. I have already checked (via CM tech support) clearances for the cooler, ram, and mobo. It will work as long as I stick to a low profile ram such as the one in the list. Also there are certain things I do beyond web surfing and games that helped me decide on the 16GB. I don't require the 16GB but I require more then 8GB and I do not want to fill all of my DIMM slots on the mobo.
  3. I have went back and forth over the GPU/'s; looked at SLI 560 ti 448 cores, Hawks, 1gb models, and the 2gb model. I also looked at going a single 580 via a suggestion from another member. I want to SLI though, so two cards it will be. Seems these MSI Frozr series ones have been quite popular and reliable.
  4. I choose the mobo because price and I have the x58 model in Jango. It has been a very nice board and I have no complaints. Plus the price is right.
  5. Last, I painted the duck blue because I have never seen a blue duck before. lachen.gif

Thank you! That is what I am told, I had some suggestions from the another user such as NZXT Havik. Do you have any? I will be doing next to no OC'ing, initially yes but once I see it works it will be backed off again. The case, it seems, is more then large enough to accommodate most any cooler I would end up with.

I agree as well, I haven't heard good things about the "V" coolers from CM, I love their cases though. Insert standard "get a hyper 212" response, I will play the devils advocate and say perhaps wait on the cars for 7890/7870?

I suggested the idea also for the CM Hyper 212 Evo or plus but was told it won't do the job. What about the CM Hyper N 520? I use that in Jango it's been pretty good....I think I may have just answered my own question lol. As for the AMD/ATI comment, nope, I am a NVIDIA guy.

the NZXT Havik is no better than the v6 gt, I suppose it comes down to personal preference between those two. If your not planning on overclocking to extreme levels the cooler master hyper 212+ is a good buy. and will hold a 4.5ghz overclock on your cpu (just)

For best air cooling solutions you want to look at the noctua nh-d14 or the Silver arrow. A simple all in one water cooling setup is a good choice aswell and keeps things neat and tidy like the corsair H60 or H70 thumb.gif

x2 - MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 2GB
Model #:N560GTX-Ti Twin Fr

You may wanna look into a 560ti 448 core, its basically a 570, so 1280mb of ram and such. Last week there was a couple deals on some 448 560's but at the moment i'm not seeing any.
More info on comparison:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1182330/560-ti-2gb-vs-560-ti-448

Corsair Force Series 3 CSSD-F120GB3A-BK 2.5" 120GB SATA III - This will be used for the OS and one online game I do play.
Model #:CSSD-F120GB3A-BK

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Corsair-Force-3-vs-Force-GT-120-GB-Solid-State-Drive-Review/1367
Based on this review, the $10-$20 more it may cost is well worth upgrading to the Force GT.
(note: the Force GT is the drive i will be getting next week, altho in 60gb form)

Otherwise, very similar to the 3 builds Ive done the last 3 weeks for friends.

If you are not doing alot of overclocking, you may also consider ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 motherboard, as it seems to have a bit more features (more expansion slots, bluetooth, z68 related extras, etc) at the cost of the thermal stuff. online prices seem to be a bit less for the z68 -assuming you dont have a discount or something. just throwing it out there, i dont have any experience with it, it was just the main board i was considering for my build before i had to choose a different option due to cost.

I recommend this board as well. Same price as P67 most of the time with more features.

And look into the 7970 GPU. single gpu will always be better and this is a solid card. And please don't say anything about drivers since they are fine since the 5xxx series.

i recomend any of these 3 asus boards over the sabertooth as some people on OCN have mentioned theats its not really an OCing mobo but some say it can NPS.. so im abit weary of it

ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131792
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68VGEN3/

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 LGA 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131790
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68V_PROGEN3/

abit over $200 might elsewhere might have it cheaper
ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 LGA 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131791
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68_DELUXEGEN3/

these 3 mobos are great OCing mobs with a sleak BIOS design
Also you could look at Asus p8p67 boards aswell..

as for a cooler
noctua nh-d14 or the Silver arrow for air

a XSPC 750 Rasa kit for water if the case can fit it

other than that its a nice build thumb.gif
