The only reason so many people have origin is because of battlefield 3. If it wasn't for bf3 there would not be many users. The thing i don't like about origin or EA is that they only release games on origin instead of other platforms such as steam. If they released BF3 for origin and steam there would be less hate and a win situation for everyone. I still prefer steam.

How long before we see stupid stuff like Origin exclusive bonuses and Steam exclusive DLCs, and timed launches that go to the highest bidder (Valve or EA)? This is turning the PC market into a replica of the console market. Want to buy game X on launch day on Steam? Well, you're outta luck because EA paid the publishers/developers to release it on their platform first. Is that what we want the future of PC gaming to be? Why do we even require software running in the background? Because people are too lazy to pop in a CD? Because they're fixated on stroking their ego by collecting achievements? I'd rather play games without registering them on either Steam or Origin.

I 100% agree with this, I miss the days where you just buy a game and use the CD key and you're off gaming without having to worry about some other program. I would have gladly paid full price for ME3, but now that EA has taken control and forcing origin to play it even for single player, they wont be seeing a penny from me. Also reminds me of this picture which I can see happening to ME3 just it did with ME2.

I won't be buying ME3 for the very same reason. I was a huge fan and remember shelling out almost 90$ after tax for the Mass Effect 2 Collectors edition. Even the Wallmart cashier guy commented on how expensive it was. Then I pop the game in and play though it only to find that the game is practically empty. A couple boss encounters and only about 2 variants for each gun class without special editions and expansion packs, and only because I bought the special edition.

After looking it up just now to confirm the price I actually found out that the game was 10$ more expensive everywhere in Canada than in the States. Honestly they're raising prices and lowering content just because they can and the majority of games haven't seemed to have caught on yet.

Oh ya and about Origin, I will never buy from them over Steam for the simple reason that for whatever reason Origin actually charges me sales tax here in Ontario, where Steam never charged tax for digital goods. Origin also charges me in USD which cost me a credit card conversion fee when I bought BF3.

Origin needs some improvements with the interface and such. Hopefully it will get there at some point but I have really grown to love Steam not sure if I can grow to love Origin.

I wont be buying ME3 for PC, instead I will play it on a used XBox 360 and renting the game through Gamefly with a 3 month free trial, not giving EA any more money. I rather a physical game use a CD key and the option to use it on either origin or steam or both, would be a lot more sensible.

I am amused by your comment, you need to re-take a look into origin if this is why you wont get such and such game. From my investigations i have found origin to be alot less intrusive since they fixed it, there is now no issue scanning your pc.
Do you remember when steam came out, it was horrible and it also scanned your pc. It took them 2 years to fix it, so before you throw judgement claims around do some more homework. (test after each patch)

agree, even more so with the bolded part; i really miss the days of pop in disc, click icon, play. i dont really care if i shot someone in the head with a welding bolt 500 times or how many people ive disemboweled with with my tail. i only care that i like the game i payed $50-$100 for.
