hey all ive been looking around the forums for awhile now and see all ur sweet water cooling set up's and desided to dabble in a wc build my self below is what lm think for the build atm

intel 3930k
asus rampage iv extreme or asus rampage iv formula
Corsair Obsidian 800D Black Full Tower Case with Window
Western Digital 1TB, Caviar Black, SATA-III, 7200RPM, 64MB Cache
OCZ 240GB SSD, 2.5", Vertex 3 MAX IOPS Edition
G.Skill 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 Kit, PC-17000 (2133Mhz), RipjawsZ, 9-11-10-28-2N
gtx580's in sli mite look at msi cars if l can find blocks for them
Corsair AX-1200 1200W ATX Power Supply
XSPC Raystorm cpu block 2011
Primochill LRT tubing not sure on colour yet

id like to put both the cpu and gpu's under water but this will b my first custom water cooling build and little unsure what to get

l know some people will b saying y no 7970/7950 well thats due to having alot of problems in my last build with amd cards and l cnt wait for nvidia to release their new gpu's

looking at modding the 800d to fight 360 rad in top in push pull and then a 240 in the bottom

any imput is welcome

btw lm in melbourne australia

First, go with the 580's, a 590 is like an underclocked pair of 570's. Anyway, for the watercooling, you'll most likely want to run everything in a single loop, and in that case, a 360+240 is plenty of radiator for your cpu and 2 graphics cards.

What cpu block would reconmend?also wat about gpu block? Found this place which has some stuff www.pccasegear.com

For CPU, the XSPC Raystorm and Koolance CPU-370 are two of the popular blocks at the moment, and Danger Den has the M6 that's still very new but looks to be a solid product. I personally like the Raystorm, it's affordable, low restriction, and performs great. For GPU, you've got a handful of options, I'm not really familiar with the gtx580 blocks. EK, XSPC, DangerDen, Koolance and more all have something out there. I'm using XSPC's blocks on my 460's, mostly because they're the most affordable (almost right in the middle of a universal and the other full-cover blocks), and I've had no complaints.

Any brand type of tubing to stay clear off? The raystorm looks nice prob l mite have with 580's not alot of place got cards with stock cooler on them
post #6 of 17
Well, it's not a stock cooler that's needed specifically, it's a reference pcb. There are companies that use a reference pcb and then their own cooling solution. Check the EK Cooling Configurator which should give you an idea of what cards are reference. For tubing, I personally use Tygon Norprene in all of my builds, but it's not an appearance-oriented tubing. If you're looking for colored or clear tubing, the brand I see recommended a lot is Primochill LRT.

Dnt think 240 rad is enough for 2 580 so mite need the 360 for those will the 240 b enough for cpu?sorry for noob questions dnt want to buy wrong stuff
post #8 of 17
Run it all as one loop, the 360 and 240 will both be cooling both the CPU and 2x 580's. There's no reason to split it into two loops to dedicate one radiator to cpu and one to gpu.

Are you doing your shopping at www.pccasegear.com.au?

I normally calculate rad space required by each device in the loop needs 1 x 120mm rad. so for 2 580s and a cpu would be 3 x 120mm rads. Therefore I'd say you'll be fine.

Don't get the Vertex 3, get a Crucial m4 or Samsung 830 and if your going to try and get a 580gtx just get a 7970.
