Has my 2500k degraded?

Thread Starter
Here is the short story,
I have an 2500k for almost a year now(in march) running overclocked to 4.8 GHZ since the first week with 1.376 voltage offset mode perfectly stable until recently. I began experiencing BSOD's under stress(mainly games). I decided to lower the clock to 4.7 and the problem seems to go away.

No it will not degrade that fast. There is another reason you were getting the BSOD but your chip won't degrade that fast, there is not even evidence of these chips degrading...wink.gif

Have you tried testing memory at all? 124 in my experience has shown its head in pretty much all possible situations, although some are more likely to get it than others (vcore)

Yes it is degraded.

It is also possible that the IMC has degraded.

either way, its not as good as it used to be.

No didn't test the memory because it's excluded considering that the systems runs perfectly fine at lower speeds(4.7 ghz)
Are you saying it needs more juice? Before it ran perfectly fine at 1.376 and 4.8 GHZ. Temps do not exceed 60°C.

Check there. Do you have c3/6 disabled? Dont forget the IMC is on the chip so these problems can leach over to other areas and baffle us sometimes, thinking its something its not.

thats what I said, but i guess you ignored my post.

124 is usually always IMC issues

C3/C6 are enabled. Will test with them disabled.
But will the CPU down-clock when not needed?
