Can this dinosaur come back to life?

Ok im doing this for my sister but I need help. Im generally a AMD and desktop kinda guy and what we are working with here is a IBM thinkpad laptop A22m

This thing is oooooollld and im not even sure if I can mod it to make it faster.
It has windows 98 its so old!

its got a pentum 3 at 1ghz
320mb of ram and i think 512 is the limit
don't even know what kinda card this things has yet.

Anyways first question is do i have a prayer of even making this thing faster?

I thought this was going to be a real dinosaur.. aww

And yes, you are going to do some prayer to make that thing faster, add some more RAM until it maxes out to the 512. You might even be able to OC the CPU by moving a jumper if its old enough lol.

Don't think so. But with a clean install of Windows 2000 (I would get rid of '98), I think it still has a life as a good lappy for school work.

Esp. with slightly older software (office 2000) you'd be surprised how well it still will work.

I would upgrade that RAM, and I might check what kind of hard drive that thing has and maybe think about upgrading that, if you can find anything compatible.

JacKz5o: It's a lappy...forget overclocking

yeah guys that about what i though. At 320mb its gota have a 256 and 128 combo in it right now so 2x256mb might help, but getting faster ram might not do much. I'm trying to find another HD thats compatible and maybe a fresh instal of a newer version of windows might work better.

Lol yeah i doubt i could oc without frying the cpu. I would rather get another cpu for it but what i've read so far its not upgradable as far as the cpu goes...

Newer version won't really help. Don't go to XP. Most, go 2000.

And that PC isn't that old.
2 OP pls nerf

k gotcha

its 6 years old, for a pc thats pretty old
what makes this thing such a pain is how picky it is when it comes to parts.

well alot of the fact that its underpowered gives me the impression its super old. Anyways so far i've had not luck finding a HD over 20gigs thats compaitble. I don't think I want to dish money out for a new os unless its going on a better hd. It seems like theres very limited info on this model other than people trying to get rid of them for 300-400 bucks
