You're correct, that was the original plan. The problem lies down to updates though, as the console users would either be forced to have later updates, or everyone to have later updates. Both of which would slow the development of the game in terms of improvements after it comes out.

Judging by the looks of it TF2 doesnt look too great either.

Isn't it hard sleeping under that rock lol?

Well, I may live under a rock, but this rock is equipped with modern, technologically advanced games that challenge SLI gtx 580's wink.gif

TF2 is the best FPS on the market right now.

Hahahahahahhhahahahahahahahahaha

Is it the only FPS you've ever played?

What is your opinion on the best FPS then?

If it counts, Metroid Prime. If not then CoD 4 would be my favorite FPS (saying "Half-Life 2" is way too cliché and I didn't like it much).

But don't get me wrong: TF2 was an amazing FPS back in 07/08 (my favorite), but now it's a steaming pile of rainbow-colored and over-complicated mess not worth of anyone's time.

Correct, but they pulled it off with Portal 2, even though the extra content came later to PS3 I think? It shouldn't be a huge bump to get over. Once the PC players get their patch, they obviously just wouldn't be able to play with the console players until they're up-to-date as well. Valve/Turtle would probably resort to leaving larger gaps between patches and releasing bigger patches.

Correct, and they did pull it off with Portal 2. The thing about CS:GO is they want to also make it a cross platform competitive game, with leagues supporting it. Thus updates NEED to be at the same time.

Valid point. The only way it would work out is if Valve can come to an agreement with Sony where they can streamline all the updates instantly. In that case, Sony would simply inspect the update after it takes effect and if anything is out of line, they can remove it. With the history Valve has I don't see why Sony would be so concerned, especially with all of the purchasable content that CS:GO will likely offer. A simple disclaimer from Sony specifically for CS:GO saying "Hey, this hasn't been approved/signed by Sony yet, download at your own risk!" should do the trick of covering Sony's tail...

DC Universe is another cross-platform game (I think? I can't find out for certain) between PS3 and PC that works fairly well, but I found this recent rant thread complaining about how long SCEA has taken to approve the update for the PS3 version. http://forums.station.sony.com/dcuops3/posts/list.m?topic_id=41518

Edit: Nope, it does not have cross-platform play, but the developers say it is totally possible. Of course it would only be possible if updates are delayed for PC users until they are approved for the PS3.
