You can actually hear your blade slashing the demons and crap.
Outside in a brightly lit marsh. Outside in an extremely bright desert. Outside in a bright swamp. Outside on a fairly bright mountain plateau. You want rainbow colors? How about bright blue cat people, bright green birds, bright red snake people and bright yellow mummies attacking you at the same time in a bright yellow desert. A light radius stat doesn't mean Diablo 2 was a dark game, it was practically crapping rainbows compared to the original title, and what we've played of Diablo III has easily been darker than 80% of Diablo 2 (the overall content, not the constant Baal/Mephisto runs people were always on). I might agree that it doesn't feel quite as demonic (no pentagrams, inverted crosses, or things of that nature), but it easily surpasses Diablo 2 in terms of how dark and foreboding it feels.
