I OC my two 6850s to 950 Ghz and im getting one ate max of 80c ? is that ok for a GPU
post #2 of 13
Generally speaking, a GPU can withstand higher temps than you think. So for that OC you have, its pretty normal for the speed its at. Anything above 80 is high for me, but i'm a cooling freak. If you're concerned about it being too hot, back off of the OC a bit.

Should be ok.
I asked xfx about my card getting 89c and they said its ok for a card to reaxh such temps.
You could always try radeon bios editor and set the fans at higher speeds for those temps so it will be cooler under load;)
Unless its already running at 100% with those temps

Should be prefect at that temp. The 6850 core can take some higher temps, but I have had issues with ram getting to hot and causing issues. Is your ram heat-sinked?

OHHHHHHH You don't want your fan 100% all day, the fan gets EXTRA HOT and the coils can get BURNT LIKE HELL, and of course, the fan will stop working, and then you wont find an aftermarket fan because the original one is a special one for the card and you end up buying an aftermarket cooler for 50$.... TRUE STORY XD

Also, is not ALL DAY, I play Battlefield 3 like 6 hours continuously and the fan last 2 weeks

6850's stability goes down hill fast once they get over 75C

This is what im getting on mine stock voltage.

Before getting my water coolers I could only get 944mhz before they were unstable.
