Need a recommendation for a Mobo to overclock phenom ii 1090t

Thread Starter
I am looking into improving my current rig and upgrading from my Asrock 870 extreme 3 to something with more potential in terms of helping me overclock my 1090t to 4ghz.

I currently have a zalman cnps9500a which I am considering replacing if its not adequate to cool the 1090t at 4ghz (per a recommendation here).

My budget is $180.

Also any recommendations for ram would be appreciated as well.

I'm running my 1090T on an Asus M4A88TD-V Evo/usb3 with a hyper 212 and I am at 4ghz. Any of the mid-highend Asus or Gigabyte boards should get you there. Look for 8 phase VRM with cooling.
With that budget I'd seriously be looking at Crosshair IV or V or the Sabertooth board.

Asus or Gigabyte are top choices but Asus is very RAM sensitive IME and they have no customer support at all. I'd go with any of the 990 FX chipset Gigabyte mobos - UD3, UD5 or UD7 depending on your needs such as Crossfire, etc.

That being said there is no guarantee you can run at 4.0 GHz. stable but the chances are better on the Gigabyte mobo than the Asrock IMO. The Zalman HSF should be good enough unless you're running really high voltage which should not be required.

I REALLY love this Sabertooth. I bought it a few weeks ago and this thing is awesome. Tons of BIOS features, great build quality and its overclocking great. On my previous 780G ASRock board, I couldnt get this thing stable above 3.8. Im rolling a little over 4 right now and I think I could get more if I put it under water. I think the Sabertooth is the best AMD motherboard on the market right now.
