AMD Phenom II X4 955 Temp Check

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I have a Thermaltake Kandalf LCS case and I have my Phenom II X4 955 OC @ 3.8ghz. For the temps, I have it at 32C idle and around 42C load. Is this normal? Ive cleaned out all the dust and organized all cables for quality airflow. Thanks!

Yes it is fine. The most conservative person would tell you to keep your load temp under 70 - 75 degrees Celsius. 40 - 45 would equal as little deterioration of the chip as possible and is far far away from any thermal shutoff point.

??? Conservative people recommend around 55C for load temps on Phenom II CPUs. Others recommend under 62C (which is the max load temp stated by AMD, I think).

@OP, those are some great temps, nothing wrong with them! If only I could get mine that low...

No. Max temps on Sandy Bridge =/= max temps on Phenom II's

yes 55c is the people recommended load temps and 62c is the stated max temp by AMD themselves i don't know where Search came up with 70c being the conservative for a AMD chip tho

Oops. I was thinking of something completely different when I posted that. Thanks for correcting.

Thanks guys, but one thing. This was and is my only case Ive ever had for about 5 years so far and ive never had experience with air cooling. So is this normal for water cooling? Just wondering cause once again, I have nothing to compare to. THANKS

quick update, I played metro 2033, looked at the temps, and it shot up from around 34 idle to 48 load. Thats water cooling so im still skepticle. Is water cooling supposed to be better or just another method?
