It's like tremulous (q3 mod), only better. The original concept is inspired by "Alien" with some RTS elements added in. It takes some serious living-under-a-rock to have missed the first NS or tremulous (when it turned standalone).

No, Tremulous is like Natural Selection. Very important to get that right.

Isn't Tremulous just a copy of Natural Selection?

No. Development on Tremulous began long before NS was in the public domain. If Tremulous is inspired by anything, it is inspired by Gloom for Quake 2. NS has a similar ancestry (please see Game Developer Magazine February 2001 issue); this is probably where the confusion arises.

Can you say shoryuken?

Yeah, and we all know that's total bull****. Anyone who has been around the gaming community for years, that is.

Natural Selection development began years before Tremulous, and was in the public domain since it's inception. BOTH did get the idea from Gloom, but don'tcha find it funny Tremulous has to put that in their FAQ, while Unknown Worlds never did?

I know, it's an easy mistake to make. I never did quite understand all the fuss about this since one was a Q3 mod, the other a HL mod and both were  inspired by a Q2 mod which was in turn inspired by a movie which was inspired by a piece of artwork.

Oh noes!!!! I wish unknown worlds had just used source engine for ns2 and skipped on the dynamic infestation and other difficult features to program on source. This way their game wouldnt be filled with bugs, fps problems, and network problems and I can enjoy my 32 alien gorgie base rush. But I admire the effort and courage to make a new engine with such a small team, if anyone will succeed it will be unknown worlds... it just might take another 3-4 years.

Nah.

They're releasing this year. Performance is way up.

Still, yeah.

I agree they should have finished Natural Selection 2 on Source, then made Natural Selection 3 on their own Engine.

A 4-Man team is making this. Remember that people.
