Hey guy,

So i recentlly found this ad on an used computer for $350, i was wondering if i should buy it. I really don't know much about the performance of the video card either. Also do you think it's a good idea to buy a second hand rig? I am not buying this computer for any particular purpose, it just felt like a good deal.

The specs are:

Antec Twelve Hundred Case
Antec Truepower 1000W PSU
EVGA 790i FTW motherboard
Intel E-8500 CPU (after market cooler)
4GB Mushkin Ram (2x2GB)
2 x EVGA 8800 GTX video cards
300GB Velociraptor hard drive
1TB storage drive
DVD burner

I'm inclined to say that it's not a bad deal. You won't be getting cutting-edge graphics; the 8800GT is a good card, and 2 of them are even better, but I don't believe it can run DX11. But it's still not a bad deal. You're getting a much more powerful PSU than you'll probably need. A velociraptor, and a 1TB drive, isn't too shabby either.

If you're into the latest games at high settings, it might not do. But the price isn't too bad. Any details re: how "used" it is (e.g. has anything been overclocked/overvolted)? How often has the previous owner used it? 24/7, 7 days a week, or just evenings and weekends?

I would vote for "it looks like a pretty good deal; find out a little bit more".

It's dated for sure, but the video cards can play most (if not all games) to some degree. Seems to be worth the asking price. Provided everything is in good working order, it could be worth a shot.

i am just alittle worried about any damaged Hardware. He sent a reply back to me saying.

"Everything is working fine. One of the DVD burners has been disconnected because it was causing me problems but that's it. The computer has been working fine for me I just had the urge to upgrade. I've gamed a bit recently but it's basically been a storage computer I use to stream movies to my PS3.

The CPU is overclocked right now just shy of 4.2 with no issues whatsoever."

Also i am not using this computer for any gaming purposes. I have a 6950 xfire rig for that wink.gif
