well, if you have money to spend then 7970 for sure, no brainier. It performs 15-20% better then 7950, and also costs that much more which makes 7950 kinda pointless... everyone who are willing to spend for 7950 should save a bit more and go for 7970.

Concerning brands, it really depends from model to model... reference designs are all the same, just different sticker on top...

Personally I'd wait for more non-reference 7970's to be released. The non-reference 7950's are looking excellent - some look like they can overclock higher than reference 7970's.

I am kind of leaning towards a 7950 myself. Some of the custom versions have been clocking just about as well as 7970's hitting 1150Mhz or more and at identical clocks only seems to perform 3-8% less than the 7970 depending on the game and settings. Plus I cannot stand the noise the reference coolers make, so if I did a 7970, it would have to be one with a custom cooler as well which has limited choices at this time plus easily top $600, a full $100-130 more than the custom PowerColor, Sapphire or Gigabyte cards.

these cards are meant to be over clocked if you buy one of these and dont overclock it then your just wasting your money, plus a overclocked 7950 vs a overclocked 7970 is night and day. dont fool your selfs.

The gts 450 is a pos and the 7970 will overclock by 20% without voltage increase.

That is very true you know. smile.gif

But to be honest Bud, I think you should just wait a bit for nvidia's offering, 600 series or 700 series whatever it is, will def bring moar performance to the table and the 7970 will drop in price significantly. Just wait it out a little longer thumb.gif
