Cause it's a lot more difficult than just subtracting by 6. thumb.gif

intel has 22nm figured out. TSMC/GloFo do not.

They don't have a processor to sell to hard-core gamers right now, but they certainly would like to sell you a couple of Radeons for your desktop (even if it's got Sandy Bridge in it), and they'll sell you a laptop with their latest high-end APU that can play most anything.

They're just focusing on their strengths right now. Bulldozer isn't the high-performance CPU that they need it to be, but they have plenty of other good products to sell

They don't have 22nm available and never will, the next step is 20nm for GlobalFoundries.

Vishera should show ~15% gain over the current FX CPUs.

Canary Island is a specific Vid card architecture.

i've skipped the bulldozers...hope the Vishera will be worth of an upgrade.

This. A lot of people fail to realize it is the chipsets fault for bottlenecking and NOT the cpu. The FX8120 cpu is more powerful than a 2500k in my tests.

I'm curious to see if they can live up to the promised 10-15% higher IPC performance improvement on Vishera (2nd Generation Bulldozer). The 8150 and 8120 are great processors but games simply do not address their advanced features and functions hence the lower gaming performance. However it changes once comparing a 2600K and up to a 8150/8120. While the 8150 is equal to 2500K in application performance and sometimes higher often it falls behind in gaming performance.

As long as they fix the power consumption and single thread performance in Vishera, I'll be happy. AMD just needs to make a product that has some very nice features that Intel doesnt/ wont have, such as a unique turbo core, very high and fun overclockability, and good power consumption. In short, they should just make it what bulldozer should have been. Then, when steamroller arrives, they can add an awesome GPU and more IPC. thumb.gif
