2500K Can't Get To 4.5ghz Help! - Page 2

I had a look through one of the data bases for overclockers recently. Seems a lot of people are not hitting the high numbers that many review sites touted early on with Sandy Bridges. Most notably 5.0Ghz with water seems to be allusive for many.

Probably your motherboard.

It took me literally 5 seconds to hit 4.6GHz with 1.39v.

I've also noticed this. A few weeks ago I was upset it took 1.5V to get to 5.0 but now I'm happy I can boot at 45x smile.gif

Yea but I thought the chips people were having trouble clocking high with were Malays. Mine is Costa Rica which supposedly clocks better than Malay from what I read anyway.

Ok I'll post tomorrow, going downtown tonight so I don't have time right now. btw I got my cpu less than a month ago, i believe it was also made in costa rica.

I had trouble getting to 4.5 as well try enabling Inernal CPU PLL Overvoltage. I have to to get past x44
here are my settings for reference

CPU PLL Overvoltage: Enabled
vcore: 1.420
LLC: Level 3 of 10 (equivalent to normal or low LLC on other boards)
QPI/VTT (VCCIO): 1.65

or using dynamic vcore

CPU PLL Overvoltage: Enabled
Vcore: normal (Offset MODE on other MOBOS; bios sets vcore at 1.355)
DVID: +.090
QPI/VTT (VCCIO): 1.70
CPU PLL 1.65v
C1E and EIST: Both enabled

I don't have a Gigabyte board so I don't have some of those options. But I enabled PLL overvoltage. Also I noticed my voltage was reporting way off from what I had set. So I set it from fixed to offset and that helped. I can now post at 4.5ghz. I know for a fact I need to reseat my heatsink though, temps are sky high 53c @ 1.38v while I'm typing this and I only have firefox running. Took me forever to mount the Mugen 2 and by the time I figured it out it had slid around. Mounting it on an AMD platform is far easier. I'm tired for today so I'll take a look at it tomorrow and report back.

everything else left to default in the bios. Although that offset may be high I've never seen my cpu use more than 1.34v during gaming. gl with your oc.thumb.gif

Thanks for posting your settings guys. I reseated the heatsink but still no dice. It's fine with x44 multi but when I try x45 multi, it will post, but it won't go to the windows loading screen. The screen just blinks a blank screen at me. I also took some pics of the mobo pins while I was reseating the heatsink. Some pics were taken with flash. Does this look normal?
