Another h80 vs antec 920 thread. REALLY QUICK.

Okay im getting the gt 2150s. Now since the antec 920 is a thicker rad than the h80... Lets say i throw the GT's on the antec 920...hypothetically it will cool a CPU better than putting the GT's on an h80 because it has a thicker rad right?

It depends on the type of radiator, rather than size, as well as the other components (i.e. pump lpm, fan cfm, etc).

Which is appropriate for this situation.

A quick Google search yielded an article that tests the H80 vs A920.

The H80 just barely out-performs the A920 by one to two degrees.

Yeah, honestly, I like Antec for the cases, but Corsair is the better bet for a self contained water cooling setup.

I currently have a H50 on my media server and I can't complain.

Also, the H80 is known to have a better warranty than the A920.

Good luck.

CLC's are really a poor choice when quality HSFs typically deliver better performance at a lower price and without the risk of water leaks damaging your PC hardware.

I have to disagree with you, I have been using a Corsair H50 since 2009 with no leaks or any other issues and very good temperatures on an i7 860. I love the simplicity of my Thermalright tower coolers (Ven-X and a TRUE) but they take up a great deal of space and dump heat within the case, a cooler with a rad can be mounted to dump heat directly outside of a case. Unlike a heatpipe cooler a CLC does have a finite lifespan as there is a pump, that would be the only thing I would consider a potential issue down the road but that's the same for any fluid based cooling system.

Please enlighten me.

What does CLC and HSF stand for? I'm new to the forum and water cooling acronyms.

I would have to go with the 920 because you can set your own fan profiles. Also the hoses on the 920 are amazing. I have the 620 in my SFF system and they hoses are super flexable.

Plus the Leds on the Antech change color tongue.gif

CLC = Closed Loop Cooler (ie. corsair H80)
HSF - Heat Sink and Fan (ie. Tower coolers)

I have the 920 and I am very happy with it.
The cooling software is easy to use and gives you more flexibility than the Corsair H80.
