Hi, Just want some opinions..

Is AMD Phenom II x6 1100T worth it? or should I wait for better FX series?

What do you need 6 cores for anyway?  Video editing?  Or is this just a gaming rig (in which case, I should be asking you if you are playing highly multithreaded games such as BF3?)

I love my 1090T. I would save a few $$ and skip the higher binned chip.. unless its the same price (-:
If you don't need the 6 cores like XD asked check out the 960T. Stock clock is low, but they are supposed to overclock like a Thuban so there are possibilities of hitting 4ghz+

The 960T would be nice 'cause I could get the chip + an extra 4gb ram for the price of a 1100T
Not sure though if the 1100T would be a much better buy that the 960T + extra memory.
I do have 8gb ddr3 right now and am satisfied with it.

If it wont kill your bank, get the Thuban, you wont regret it, very good chips.

Id go ahead and get a FX-8120. For all their problems and all the bad press, at the end of the day theyre still better than Phenom II's in almost every benchmark and application especially when overclocked and you can usually overclock a FX a lot further than a Phenom and you could probably hit 4 gig on stock voltage.

And moar coarz always comes in handy even in single threaded applications. When I went from a X3 to my current X6, I picked up a pretty notable increase in all my game benchmarks, even the ones that arent multithreaded.

But if you can get a screaming deal on a X6, theyre certainly not a bad proc at all. Ive got mine overclocked to a little over 4 gig with a 2800 CPU/NB and Im getting great performance out of it and picked up a ton of in my game benchmarks. So its hard to go wrong with either, but like I said, at the end of the day, a 8120 is still a better processor so thats one I would choose.

One thing that hasn't been asked.... Do you already have a mobo, or will you be buying one?

I went with the 1100T over the others and I don't regret it. You could buy the cheaper 690T but I'd just spend a bit more and get the better binned chip.

If i were you I would stay away from the FX chips. I can tell you right now if someone offered to trade me a x6 FX for my Thuban, I'd turn them down without hesitating. But it doesn't hurt to but a AM3+ motherboard for future proofing in the rare instance that AMD releases a new chip worth buying (yeah I am a AMD fan and I just said that...Sad but true).

I just changed my rig and I had the same question as the OP

think about it :
the 1100T is the absolutely BEST processor for AM3 Motherboards

it means that it's value will not drop too much over time, because it's will still be the best choise for AM3 mobo owners to update their rig

In like one year, just buy the best proc available for your AM3+ board, and resell the 1100T
