PCI Express 2.0 x8 pins fell out. Please help?

Thread Starter
Hey guys a couple of months ago I built my first computer my mother board is a ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z I also got a ASUS GTX560 TI TOP graphics card. Last week I bought another graphics card to run SLI I put the computer together and everything was running fine tell this evening I pulled out the graphics cards to look at doing some case mods. The graphics cards came out nice and easy and I had no problems putting them back in however my machine didn't recognize there was even a card in the second slot so I removed the cards again to find that the pins in the PCI slot had fallin out of there groves and were out in the "slot area" I guess is what you would call it meaning where the card is meant to sit. I have tried just pushing the pins back in and that didn' t work is there any way to get the pins back in their slots or is that PCI slot ruined? Thanks for any help.

You should probably try to RMA the board and get a replacement. (I wouldn't tell them that I caused the problem though. I'd remain silent about that.)

However, you could try to use a pin or a needle to realign the pins very carefully to their original place, if you feel comfortable doing so.

I actually bent two of the gold pins that sit under my CPU and had to realign them. I know it was me that bent them, but I have no clue how I did it. It seemed to work fine before and it still seems to work fine afterward.

RMA it. Don't say that you caused it, just say you noticed it when you about to install the second GPU.
