Alright, we have similar configurations, albeit with different brands for RAM and cooling.

How is your OC going so far?

I found that i keep getting errors after about 5 hours in prime. I would get the 0000x101. So i boost my Vore abit more. I am sitting at 1.395 4.7ghz. It's been 4 hours...so we will see. biggrin.gif

I really would like to be under 1.4 for 24/7, so i might bump it back down to 4.6 1.35v Stable.
SBE is stated to tolerate max 1.4v given ideal temperature and signal quality by intel . Gulftown is the same, no such number is released for SB, (******* read too much into the vid table), since SBE is the same manufacturing process and architecture as SB i'd say its the best estimate anybody could give you.

I used to be running 4.7 GHz at 1.336 to 1.344V (bounced between the two, so assuming 1.340 was the actual Vcore), 24/7 folding stable at 67 to 75C.

I've just recently hit a 4.9 GHz stable at 1.408 to 1.416V (bouncing between the two, so assuming 1.412V is the actual Vcore), stable folding so far at 70 to 78C.

I'm torn between the increased performance (it's significant) and the fact that I'm up on the edge of acceptable Vcores (although my temperatures are just fine with me for air cooling.)

I'm undecided if I want to go back to that low-heat, low-voltage 4.7, stay at the maximum 4.9, or see how things look at 4.8 and split the middle.

Depending on the cooling. I have mine @ 1.45v 24/7 but does not go over 60C. H50 is very weak so i would not got over 1.35v

Man I wish i could hit 4.9 on that voltage. 4.8ghz seems good so far at 1.408v with the limited testing i have done but going up to 4.9ghz failed with 1.44v 27mins into the 1792fft test with 40% memory use and 1min interval, i think it does one full loop around 30mins so i was almost through one cycle. Im not sure if I should go up higher for just 100mhz. I want to see how 5.0ghz does at that volt though after someone mentions in another thread how 4.4ghz was stable, 4500 failed no matter what but 4.9 was able to get stable like 4.4ghz. He mentioned he heard its not uncommon with SB apperently. My max multiplier i think was 52 or 54 but dont think i can use any of them lol

My 4.8ghz peaks 66c on prime in a 75F room, gaming on bf3 an hour and peak was 61c on hottest core so I might have some headroom.

Oh and also wanted to try testing with only 2 dimms of memory rather than the 4 i use to see if that helps. I have my eye on the samsung stealth 1600mhz memory

2. leave the FSB alone, use only the multiplier
3. curious why you want to overclock your ram when its already at 1600?
4. when you get up to 4.8 and above its no longer just vcore you need to tweak. You may need to adjust VTT and PLL voltages also.
Good luck, anf if you have anymore questions feel free to ask smile.gif

Nope, Intel says 1.52 for VID. That is different from Vcore.

You should see both a performance increase in terms of memory bandwidth (but not total memory available, obviously) and you will most likely see an slight increase on OC headroom in your CPU as well.

You can always just pull two DIMMs out and test your current setup for performance to get an idea how it will work.

The 4.7 GHz voltages I had were awesome but I really had to push it hard to hit 4.9. I am still undecided and I might split the middle at 4.8.

Yeah Im now certain that my reasonable limit is 4.8ghz @ 1.408-1.41 (actually 4848mhz passed 1hr of 1792fft) but if I get close to 4.9ghz it looses the first core without 1.44+ and I still havent gotten it past 20mins. Now that i have this established Im going to pull memory out and see how it does tomorrow, if It makes a difference it will be interesting. I just cant get too greedy with it lol
