New tubing

Thread Starter
so i decided to go with the 3/8" ID 5/8" OD Primochill Green UV going down from a 1/2" ID...

question is with the smaller ID restricting the flow and increasing the pressure through the hose (or have i got that wrong?) could it cause the 1/2" barb fittings to possibly leak on the threads? or is it really something to not worry about? i have always used thread tape and hose clamps so i just assume it should be fine.

Maybe i'm just been paranoid lol.

Actually with the smaller tubing it will be harder to put the tubing on the barbs but once they are on there you probably won't even need clamps. I use 1/2" barbs and 1/2" tubing with clamps without any tape or anything and I haven't had a single drop come out of the tubes. As for the pressure, you might have a slight increase in head pressure but it's nothing to worry about imo.
