You need a better cooler to be honest. Those X6 CPU's can create a large amount of heat.

There are guides in the AMD section that are very helpful for starters.

The Thubans over clock very well, they also put off a decent amount of heat. I would first look at getting a new cooler. I like the hyper 212+ but there are other tower style coolers that can work along with some closed loop systems that work.

To start OCing that chip I would simply use the multiplier before touching the clock. 200x20 seems to work for most people as an easy way to get to 4ghz. You may need to bump the volts, but I would be gentle with them; more volts = more heat. If you get bsods check your ram speed; make sure your not pushing them too hard, I have found at going over 1600 always bsods, even with voltage at 1.6.
I'd also clock your nothbridge up to about 3000, that seems like a consistent number most people can hit.

That should be a good starting place.
cpu vcore no more that 1.55 volts
cpu core temp no more than 55
Ram no more that +.1 volt over recommended... 1.5->1.6, 1.55->1.65.....
pushing the northbridge might require a touch more voltage there, so try a small bump if your bsoding.
