You are missing a lot of versions there, buddy.

I can only think of NT and 2000, but then again I didn't make the pic wink.gif

I'm not that fond of that look, though I am open to some change. I always click the start menu button with the mouse, never with the keyboard, and I don't know If I want to get used to a changed position.
I hate the start screen of Windows, the replacement of the start menu. Everything is so much bigger than it needs to be. I know, touch friendly yada-yada, but It is going to be on my Desktop, why the hell would I want everything huge?

Is Microsoft really publishing an OS only aimed for tablets? Why? That's like Ferrari making a new Enzo and making it a crops truck.

I'm baffled.

I wonder what happened to the interface shown in Build 8175. That looked quite good - like windows 7 but with metro styling.

But okay, we'll go with what you're saying. This isn't about our concerns, we just hate change.

Windows 95 was godsend compared to 3.1, and Vista was excellent. Windows 7 is mostly minor improvements to Vista.

And you haven't read my posts. Well you have read them, but misunderstood. I didn't say 8 would be great, I said that people complain about every version of Windows. And by the way, there IS a different version for tablets, unless you think the desktop version with require an ARM CPU.

I know you didn't specifically praise 8. That's exactly my point. You made it clear you didn't like how every next version gets criticized. The problem is whether that criticism is justified or not. In this case, it pretty clearly is. Your wide-ranging comment on how "Everyone complains about everything, change isn't a bad thing" over-simplifies things to a degree that really set me off. This isn't some slight style and coding changes/changing to x64. We're talking about changing the ENTIRE integrity of Windows (DRASTIC UI changes, file-system, etc.) with little to no thought over how broad this change would effect not just the professional user, but also the day-to-day Joe Public. Grandma's gonna be in a panic because she can't find her start menu button like she always could in the past.

I did already mention that you don't have to use the Metro UI. Most people I've hear that have tried the beta liked it. You might be overreacting a bit, MIcrosoft has been doing this for a long time, have some faith they wouldnt be stupid enough to bomb on their highest grossing product.

I'd like to see a cross platform OS from the market. That is to say that with mulicore mobile devices and "apps" crazy douchbaggery for the foreseeable future, there should be one OS for home and mobile. I had hoped that win8 would be like that. The x86 or x64 architecture on mobile devices seems to be whats holding it back but I think that will be solved soon too. Another windows OS isn't necessary right now I think.
