I got mine from Directron but they are out of stock and the ETA is Feb 20th.
Just make sure when you buy; if there is a comment bar: tell them to verify that it is SR0KY on the box for C2 stepping.

Or SR0KF for 3960X's! wink.gif

My request for a C2 replacement just got denied by Intel:

Greetings from Intel® Customer Support!

Thank you for being kind enough in providing the details that we asked regarding your request.

The processor i7-3960X C1 stepping was launched in November 2011, and on the same month, we release an erratum document and we clearly stated there that Directed I/O (VT-d) feature was not supported nor enabled on that release.

I am sorry to tell you that because of this, we do not feel the need to replace your processor. I understand how you feel I know you will be disappointed with this update.

Thank you for understanding, feel free to let us know if you have further concerns.

If you have any other concern, please feel free to contact us.

Do I still have a case to make? Anyone who successfully replaced their processor to a C2 stepping, can you kindly PM me your service ticket/RMA number so that I can have some supporting evidence for my claim? sadsmiley.gif

That's not acceptable in my view (hell, was that response written by a HS drop-out???). You need to call Intel customer support and hassle them until they give in. They will eventually...

Just wondering, when did you buy your 3960x, because if you bought it in December this is no bait and switch and was very well known at that point that VT-d was not a feature of the processor and that there was an erratum. If you however bought it in November'ish, it was a feature on Intel's Ark site for the processor. It mainly depends on when you bought it.

For those that are impatient like me: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=225178076 not sure how many they have in.
Someone might also want to confirm c2 stepping, but I just got an email for in stock so I would have to assume they are.

Called. they had 2 in stock...i was #3 to place my order....I hate life.

Anyone found a USA vendor that has some C2 stepping 3930k's in stock?
For what it's worth, looks like Directron still has em in stock.
Wish I could afford these nice processors..
Soon, though! tongue.gif

Sweet! Thanks man, ordering it now.

Talked to George @ Directron on the phone, he went in the back and checked the stepping code and it was in fact SR0KY, which is the C2 stepping. Very helpful guy, so far I'm pleased with Directron.

Hopefully the shipping is fast, can't wait smile.gif

Intel wants to know what use I have for VT-d. Can anyone help with this question? Can I answer them that I debug drivers on VM and VT-d is needed to fully utilize hardware accelerated virtualization? Also what software/applications should I be quoting?
