Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I just watercooled my perfectly fine PS3 and I tested it, and now I have a YLOD...

Can anyone help me with this? pretty annoyed since I just spend alot of money on the watercooling parts!

I've fixed PS3s with YLOD issues and a lot of times the cpu heatsinks weren't seated properly giving enough force. Try tightening your waterblocks a bit and see if that helps. You should also check and make sure all connections are made. Sometimes the PS3 YLOD when something isn't plugged in.

Why did you do do that? Not only have you voided the warranty, you might have ruined a perfectly fine PS3 for no reason at all but to look cool.

What you have said sums up why people sleeve PSUs. They void the warranty so their power supply will look cooler. This is overclock.net. We void warranties!

The solder that holds the chips in place is lead free now and as a result, it dries out rather quickly.  It's possible you cracked the solder when you installed the waterblocks.

Yeah, but at least in most cases it's to improve performance. The risk-reward ratio of water cooling a ps3 just isn't logical.

Neither is spending silly amounts of money on computer parts we could live without.

Quit slamming the guy and help him.

But isn't the fun seeing if you could do it? The bigger reward is that you did do it and can now brag. It's probably not entirely broken. If it does have a misjunction, just have it reflowed.
